Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Colin, BTW I have stock jeep knuckles that are already OTK if you want them. They're not flat tops obviously but they're better then UTK and free.

But I can still keep my hubs/rotors right? Do I just need the spindle/caliper off those knuckles?

I have to figure out what steering came on this thing too, cause I still have no idea. I'll post up pics when I get it next week.

It was suggested I start a build thread...I'm too goddamn lazy.

I might start one this weekend.

The knuckle determines the spindle, caliper bracket, and outer axle shaft. You will most likely be able to reuse your hubs/rotors, unless the Jeep stuff have the big bearing spindles. You will have to double check that, but I don't believe the Jeeps stuff did come with the big inner bearing.

So I'd be able to use my hub/rotors, but I'd need Jeep stub shafts, calipers, spindles, and caliper brackets? Or would I use the Ford calipers?

chevy/jeep iirc

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Carmelo if you want something safe for outside find a cheap truck bed toolbox. Ive seen them for $50 on CL. If you dont want it later sell it.

Colin if you need a hand or a truck to pick up the axle let me know.

Thanks man. I have like 4-5 people who have offered their services as well lol. You're welcome to come along as well, should be on Wednesday, but I'm not 100% sure yet.

Haha yeah we'll see who actually pulls through!

I know Ross said he'd come and we could use his truck, as well as Carmelo. I don't think my Dad is comfortable with the '08 CTD getting dirty yet lol.

Calipers are dictated by the brackets.
Ford uses an interesting set up with their brackets. There is a spring plate that you kind of wedge between the bracket and caliper, and then bolt the calipers to the bracket.

(I know there is no caliper, but you can see the difference between the Ford/chevy brackets. You see it is really wide, and has a lip you pretty much shove the caliper into. You can kind of see the 2 bolt holes on the bottom lip of the bracket.

The FSJ ones (at least on my '74 wagoneer axle), used 2 wicked long SHCS that slide through the bracket, and bolt to the caliper.
