THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

what's everyone's thoughts about a full width 60 swap, keeping short arms and leafs and adding a ladder bar to combat axle wrap (after i plate the unibody). i'd probably run 5.38's or lower... i mean, i think the biggest thing holding me back is not articulation. i like my current suspension. but i want bigger tires without fear of grenades.

oh, and i'm not mentioning tire size :scottm:

meh. *personally* I don't like full widths unless you've got a trail only rig. I say that because of their sheer size, not because I've got 44s haha. But I mean, you gotta realize that as your cog goes up, you want your track to widen. IMO, to compensate for 1 tons, you need some pretttty big tires. Big enough that, for *me*, I'd want the Jeep pretty wide to keep it nice and stable. Idk, they're cool to have, one tons, but I really gotta say I think a bit overrated. To each his own?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

half of our trails it would be tough to fit full widths between the trees

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

what's the difference between that and a tow strap? i mean, his brakes work, right?

If he had a winch he could just winch in tight against the other jeep. I have a feeling it would work well... no idea why I'm so confident...ok, ok, I'm guilty  haha. No, but in that case ya don't need the brakes, so long as it stays nice n tight against the jeep that's towing. If using a strap, yeah, brakes are good heh.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i have brakes. and forward gears currently so i'd much rather just limp it over. but i can't just wait around forever to start to tear it apart. once i get the tranny in i can still drive it (but need tires again... XXXXing brother). i'd then be able to do the axles at my leisure. i'd rather not do 33s and 3.07s though, even for a little bit on the street

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

then get dem gearz dunn!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

there would still be empty space... not like you could get them both right against each other with the winch

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Well, it works, I'll say that much. haha

what's wrong with staying the current height and running bigger tires? the one ton tubes aren't that much bigger, so they'd put me maybe another inch higher off the ground... and the full widths would be plenty wide... cough cough sean's rig cough cough. probably not h2's though. i'm thinking H1s hehe

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

nahh. not what i mean. I'm talking clearence under the pumpkin

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

oooh... well. travis... let me assure there would be clearance hehe.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i wouldn't exactly be running 34s.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

realistically... how much could this cost... hm. axles, gears, tires, H1 rims, steering, axle brackets, brakes.... ugh it could be a few years before that happens.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Right. but That's my point. what would be the range of what you'd consider for tires? gimme some #s...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Ask Bill what he thinks. He'll probably be pissed to add it up for ya but he'd have a ballpark figure for you heh...I realize you'd be staying short arms and leafs, but still...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

it would have to line up with someone elses rear bumper though.

we're just gonna put this whole idea on the back burner. we'll see how it handles the 35s later this summer.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Then you get great axles with no worries of grenading a R&P or whatever... But you still have a chain-driven 231 that's absolutely capable of throwing the chain, and then you're still dead in the water...I mean sure, some people have good luck with them, But IMO it's just that...luck. I think if I were to try it, I'd blow a hole in the side of my t-case a few runs into the season :laugh3:
