THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i think he is gonna put an 8.8 and a d30 in so he can put the ecco's on but as far as making it 4wd i don't know...he can comment on that!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Thats funny I contacted the guy on that MJ, he was asking $1500 but I decided against it because of the 2wd. I would want to convert it and I already have a line up of vehicles waiting for me.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I plan on throwing a dana 30 in it asap. I want my eccos on there and it's easy enough plus i'll get new brakes and ball joints and all that which makes it more than worth the effort. I do plan on putting a 8.8 in the rear too but that is way off probably, atleast a year. I have a few odds and ends to do to it and then i'm putting it on the road and keeping it stock for as long as possible. The Honcho is still my main project and I am actually sitting next to a 4ft. tall pile of parts itching to go into it. Oh I almost forget, I will definately be converting it to 4wd(obviously) but it will be an onroad only jeep so i'm in no rush.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Smittybilt XRC8

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'll second that vote!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I got my 35s yesterday and the airsoft BBs (anyone have experience with these?).

I'm going to get them mounted this weekend probably, but I think I have to trim the fenders. Anyone got any tips? I'm good at hacking stuff together lol.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

BBs ftw! ...worked for me and many others, I don't see why they wouldn't for you!

as far as trimming the fenders, when I did mine i used an air chisel, something like this using the second one down...

I just did it quick though, if I took my time with it I think you could do a good job using one. Sawzall would work well too, definitely. If I were to do it again, I'd likely just go with that.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Thanks Travis.

What about reattaching flares? I might get TJ flares and I have a write-up on how to install those, but as far as stock flares?

I might not even bother though until I get the TJs.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

reattaching flares? no comprendo, senor, lo siento! :laugh3:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Go measure the ID of the inner bearings, I'll match that against the FSJ bearings I have in my hubs under my deck. An easy way to check is if the inner bearing surface diameter is somewhat bigger, vs friggen huge, compared to the outer bearing surface diameter.

Unless you do F250 high steer, you can't use a ford outer shaft. The spindles are all different length between the chevy-jeep-fords, so you need to use the corresponding shafts. The Chevy/FSJ spindle is longer than the ford, and therefore you wouldn't have enough splines surface sticking out of the spindel to fit a hub body onto, let alone the retaining clip.

And as far as "wasting" things, you will have to remount the hydro assist when you do high steer as you won't be able to use the same mounting locations, since the steering will be in different spots.

Hmmm... I don't think your correct here with the outer shaft lengths, I remember checking all of these dimensions when I built mine, and all of the outers (Ford, Jeep, Chevy... 9.985" long...)were the same length. I'll see if I can find the info and post a link....

A.

*EDIT*

Sorry, you are correct. The Ford and early Jeep (74-76) outers are 9.72", and the Chevy and later Jeep (76-83) are 9.94".

What this breaks down to is you CAN run the 9.94" length shafts in anything, but if you have a factory shaft, the 9.72" length only works in the Ford and early Jeep hubs.

I run the 9.94" length shafts in my Ford outers.

Here is a reference page to check it out...

Balls. My buddy and I got the .12g ones. We'll see how they work out. Did you try the .12g first and they didn't work?

NICE. WJ FTW.

Your dad just stopped by my cube to bring my badass JEEP gym bag back. He said some boxes showed up at your house...thinks they were shocks :D.

eh the .12 work, but for a big diameter tire like the 35's the .2's work better.

yeah, they're the only things i've ordered from edelbrock :spin1:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

the .2g's stay in their place better when you hit a bump too.... if the tires aren't bias ply, i'd really think about getting them balanced normally. i found a lot of my funny vibes went away when i went to good, normal AT's for the street.

True true. We'll see what happens. If I have to get them balanced normally I will.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm still sliiightly kicking around the thought of just getting the lower end edelbrocks, because they'd still be an improvement over the rancho's i've got in the rear. Hell even the BDS in the front. at least i'd be stepping up to charged shocks...just that Idk if they still have anything available for my required lengths. blah. we'll see, who knows.
