THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Rob, you're gonna finish clearancing that passenger side fender, and probably custom contour your rocker panels a bit more.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Going to change the front diff fluid, pack up and leave by 10ish hopefully!! see everyone thereeeee

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I've never rebuilt an axle but aren't they used so you can easily put in/pull out the carrier while you're figuring everything out? I would assume all the final shimming/measuring is done with the new bearings?

They're used so you can easily move around shims yes. Basically the OD of the races and the ID of the bearings are ground down so they slide into and onto their respective spots by hand.

When you have everything the way you want it, you pull the setup bearings off and press the new bearings on. Yes you would want to double check that nothing moved, but even if it did it would be down near .001-.003" which is nowhere near resetting up the gears.

Both times I've setup gears with Bill, the pattern didn't change when pressing on new bearings.

Sorry, but incorrect.

That's what I figured...

The only time I could see it mattering would be if the bearings are REALLY toast. In that case, your gears are probably junk anyway.

Anthony, you had me double checking myself lol.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Where have people bought Harmonic Balancers from before? I just called NAPA and they said it was a dealer only item, except both NAPA and Autozone have it listed on their websites.

Marky Mark & the funky bunch, don't forget about the Crown store!! I can even beat RockAuto on that part FTW.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Actually that makes me curious... how much would a timing chain cover gasket, a timing chain (the best you have if there are multiple models), and a front main seal run me from Crown? I'm seeing about $83 from RockAuto

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm at home to work on my green Jeep, and I opened my hatch to do something, and there were two little mice staring at me.

There was also a dead parent stuck under my center console.

I think the babies are in my rocker panel right now.
