THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Stove thread

Looks like everyone is planning the demise of their XJ chassis on here... I've been busy plating aroung the steering box unibody. Going to bubble-gum and bandaid mine back together as best I can for this year.

I've been mulling over the idea of building a chassis from scratch for a while now and have parts set aside for a rainy day. Seems like it may come to be this winter.

OR maybe I'll just part it out and sell the comanche and buy a Tacoma...

Yeah I thought about the idea of building a buggy. The reality of it is, when we start a family, I won't really have as much time to use it.

I'd rather have something I can still cruise around on the street with every once in a while, and still be built enough to survive a beat down in the woods.

I'll always want a buggy, but in the end it's just not worth it to me right now. Maybe that will change later on in life.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Stove thread

The answer is clearly to not have a family then. Then you get to build dumb jeeps, loud Cummins, and turbo LSx cars. Oh wait, that's me ;)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Stove thread

Buy my Treps!!!

he said 37's not 33's.

This chapter is at the teetering point of no longer being an XJ "club" and just being a social club that wheels random vehicles a couple times a year.

When I get to family status I hope to be doing a slightly milder grand waggy.

although i've always had plans in the back of my mind for a tj/lj build.

You guys know how I like being able to drive my junk on the pavement.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Stove thread

I'm going to register my XJ soon.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Stove thread

I better get off the Tacoma bench before it gets crowded...

but seriously I'm getting rid of it, it's a long story, but let's just say toyota reliability is BS. I'm considering a WJ Overland or Limited 4.7HO, anyone have a reason to steer clear? The only downside I've found so far is there's no manual option.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Stove thread

So you think the 4.7 V8 is more reliable?!?! My old DubJ had 185k on it and kicked ass, but it seems like I wasn't the norm. It did consume oil between changes though.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Stove thread

-The 4.7L WJ has a hydraulic cooling fan. Stupid design.

-The 4.7L is not an awesome motor. I've heard from a few people that the con rods are too soft.

-The WJ rear suspension sucks. Dumb vertical upper control arm bushings.

-The NV247 sucks too.

Other than that they're mint.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Stove thread

Not sure why one leaf spring bolt has to break and the other comes out very easy. One of the shackle bolts came out easy as that shackle was replaced recently, other side the bolt came out easily but included the bushing sleeve.

Hmmm. Are there any major differences internally between the standard 4.7 and the HO? I'm looking for a DD that can fit 3-4 people comfortably, and tow a trailer with 3-4 dirtbikes on it. Not looking for a wheeler, so the suspension doesn't bother me so much. Any other suggestions guys?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Stove thread

Yeah 5 SPD 4.8 cc prob very hard to find. I'm sure Tahoe's don't got that option.
