LOL. Literally. LOL.

I understand the marketing behind this though when you can get the almost full line of Ford vehicles from the F150 to the Explorer to the Taurus with the "same" 3.5L turbo Ecoboost.

I did giggle when the mentioned the fuel mileage during the press release. I mean really? Who buys a supercar (ok, maybe that is up for debate that the GT is one, but still) and worries about mileage?

I just love how Clarksons GT fell apart on the TG set, he sold it within a year, let's not mention the fuel system recalls from ford.

Much more contained flame in a burner, plus they don't.

When was the last time you parked your car in the basement? Haha.
They don't approve oil fired furnaces for garages? How the hell are you supposed to heat it?

Not sure what car in basement has anything to do with this... the garage is detached from the house by 100+ ft.

Units installed when past code versions were in effect are grandfathered in. They used to have requirements for how high the unit needed to be elevated off the floor and whatnot. And you have the ability to switch off the ignition source instantly in an emergency.

However, I believe they are now prohibited in garages as well.
Thanks for the frustrating info.

In MA it is hard to many paper-pushers in big cities that don't get it. There are still options and you can "isolate it" from the fumes (that isn't all that hard).

Illustrate a point about fumes vs flames.

You remember the hurdles I had to jump to just get my basement floor at the same level as my garage floor?

I'll have to look into that work around... I'm having a hard time picturing it.

Yeah, you got it to pass but wouldn't pass as it sits.

It's so it can run the GTLM class in IMSA races, and yes, fuel mileage is kind of important in endurance racing. The 5.0 wouldn't be competitive and there's no forced induction allowed in motors over 4000cc, or motors over 5500 allowed... Save for the Viper, which has a special exemption due to grandfathering the motor/chassis or something.

IIRC the Viper and Vette have intake restrictions

Probably. The C6R made that class it's bitch for years.

yup, and the Viper got banned back in the early 2000's

Assuming gas is not an option but you can also get electric heaters though not very cost friendly to run

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

Gas is not an option. Yeah I'm most interested in how to make a wood stove heat my garage. The best I've found so far is an outdoor boiler which completely negates the purpose of a wood stove.

I would consider an oil furnace maybe eventually but I've got a free Vermont castings defiant lined up.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

That's the only bonus to my attached garage. I hate the ceiling height and how cramped it gets, but if I close the garage doors I can just open the door to the basement and it gets pretty warm in there after about 20 minutes.

I would probably go the wood stove heat, but I haven't looked into that all that much. What about one of those large propane blower units? I think Gary had one and he said it wasn't bad.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

Eh, I wouldn't want a wood stove type unit out there. Sure it is better than nothing but to much of a hassle when you want it warm. If I am going to go out to work or trying to thaw something I wouldn't want to have to spend 15-20 min dickering with a stove then waiting for an ice cold casting to heat up only to further have to tend to it all day.
I'd rather set it and forget it and continue on whatever it was.

Outdoor boilers are very common up north but they use it as a boiler not a stove that radiates the heat.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

There's already two wood stoves in the house to supplement the oil/forced hot water. I'd like to keep the fuel source consistent, that's all. I might end up telling the insurance company it's a workshop not a garage and will not have a functional car parked in it full time, which is true. Not sure if that will make a difference to them or not.
