THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

I uh didn't measure garage footprint again. It's every bit of 28 wide 24 long with two corrugated metal car ports attached to it and very solidly built but no flooring in the ports. 1.9 acres on the end of a dead end.

Oh, and it's got a pond.

sounds baller, lets party, ill bring the dog pound

Anyone here licensed in HVAC in MA? What's the policy on putting a wood stove in a insulated, sheetrocked garage that is used for parking and workshop? I'm not saying it's going to change my actions but I'd like to know which side of the code I'm going to fall onto. A friend sent me this yesterday but it sounds like a lot of heresay: http://www.hearth.com/talk/threads/are-pellet-stoves-legal-in-garages-i-am-in-mass.48594/

by current codes, you will not get the local code official to allow this, even if it's a brand new modern EPA sealed unit. If fuel vapors are possible, open flame is a no-go.

And if you do manage to get them to allow it, your insurance definitely won't.

It's not a modern sealed unit.

How do they justify an oil fired garage furnace, then?

Much more contained flame in a burner, plus they don't.

When was the last time you parked your car in the basement? Haha.

Units installed when past code versions were in effect are grandfathered in. They used to have requirements for how high the unit needed to be elevated off the floor and whatnot. And you have the ability to switch off the ignition source instantly in an emergency.

However, I believe they are now prohibited in garages as well.
