THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

Don't worry, I'm sure I bought the worst possible one.

can't be worse than when i brought my truck in to the tire chain to get my tires rotated (free for life after i bought the tires there, figured why not?) and they tried to sell me a $1200 brake job.

you own a land rover so that mean you have a ton of money and it breaks down a lot

Actually it isn't "that bad" if your system is working correct.
It is also nice to be home to be able to see the tank and make sure there isn't any obvious issues.

I grew up with septic and my father got it pumped every year. If you wanted to be outside, it was that bad. At least to me.

Yeah we saw it last December when we got the house inspected. They had recently replaced one of the baffles and everything else looked good.

I'm ok with not looking at it this year. I was lazy in getting another appointment setup since the previous company were morons, so at this point I just took the first day they had available.

Hey so my Dad is closing shop and renting out the building. Anyone want a Honcho and a Lathe?

Yeah, I've seen a few. It doesn't even make my list of top 5 worst smells. An overflown sespool is far worse.

Rotting mammalian flesh is #1 worst by a good margin.

Colin, every year? That's really often. Something is either wrong with the system or its undersized for the # of occupants

What about the TIG?!? Hit me up!!

Interested in the lathe... Don't really have a place to put it or a way to get it there. How soon is he closing up?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

Jeez, don't know everyone wanted a lathe.

Anyone want a 12' throw (overall 16'), 4500+ lb, engine lathe?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

Well, I *do* have the capability to move such a thing, and space to utilize it...

Don't really want to devote that much wall space to it but if the price is right and it works, it'd be cheaper than outsourcing the few projects I need to get done and could make quite a bit back doing side work for my real job...

Want and need are two very, very different things.

Bill, you should take Carmelo's lathe before me. I'm getting my grandfather's... someday. I have him for the time being.

You'd have to literally take re-frame (take apart the rooms you set up) the interior of your garage to maximize the remaining space for that lathe. But you could stick a Bridgeport with a prototrack in the corner too. And a scotchman. And never build parts ever again.

I really want a lathe and a bridgeport in my garage, but even more I want a Scotchman or equivalent ironworker. It can shear a 24" wide 1/4" A36 plate or put a 90 deg bend in it and shear something like a 1/2" + 6" wide plate. It even shears angle iron. There are a few different models but the one we have at work kicks ass.

That was my thought as well but I didn't want to devote that much room to it so I turned it down.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

I would never use the 12 ft capability of that one. We have a "medium" sized engine lathe that is fit for retirement at work. Max distance between centers is about 4-5 ft and overall footprint is 4x8 ish. That's much more the size I'd prefer in my house. If only it didn't cut a taper...

We also have a handful of Monarch EE's that are being excessed soon. A couple were just tuned up, too. Too bad. When my work excesses things they sit outside and usually end up too rusty to be useful by the time they go to auction.
