Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

anyone tell my whats needed for a m90 install on a 4.0? bigger injectors I assume but what about computer ect?

also anyone got one?

custom intake manifold obv, bigger injectors, and a SAFC at the least.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

I don't see a need for a custom manifold if its mounted on the pass side

Hi Anthony from 2010!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

how do you plan on making it work if it isn't mounted to the intake manifold? this is why turbos are more betterer

Can't you just plumb it over to the intake manifold?

I do agree, I'd rather run a turbo and use at least MS2 to control fuel/spark.

DIYAutotune (where I get all my MS stuff) has a plug-n-play ECU for a RENIX era jeep since the connector matches most GM connectors of those years.

AKA all you have to do is assemble the ECU, remove factory ECU, plug in MS ECU, and bam you're all set. No wiring changes at all.

I'd love to grab a cheap renix jeep and play around with turboing it.

ya, but now you have to make some sort of contraption to bolt to the bottom of the M90 and accept a silicone hose to send over to the TB. for almost the same amount of work you can make a stock intake manifold work.

and that MS2 setup looks awesome

Hi Anthony from 2010!

The difference is I'll finish it, I'm just looking for a little more power to make 3rd and 4th more usefull

The difference is I'll finish it, I'm just looking for a little more power to make 3rd and 4th more usefull

lets break it down..

supercharged 4.0:
used m90 $200
injectors $100
used SAFC $200
belt and stuff plus misc extra $200-300
and time to build a manifold, test, tune, work out bugs, retune.

$800 and a huge headache for 40 more crank hp.

turbo 4.0:
ching chong china t3 $250
turbo stuff (oil cooling, lines, piping, etc) $200
used SAFC $200
injectors $100
misc extras $100
time to build manifold, test, tune, retune.

$850 for 50 more crank hp, add another 2-300 bucks for 60-70 hp.. turn up the boost and get an IC. also, headaches.

LS swap:
$600 for 5.3 and wiring
$400 for NV4500
$200 for extras

$1200 for 150 more crank hp, reliability, no headaches.

LS wins.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

What about $0 and 0 headaches?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

Also I would love to see someone spend only $1200 on an LS swap.

$200 in extras? That may not even cover the fuel stuff!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

You got out wrong Adam V10 wins

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

Just install a second 4.0 in the back to drive the front axle. Then you get 190hp per axle. Double the HP. Obviously the best idea.

that doesn't seem to fly around here.

what else would you need besides a new fuel pump? no one is making you run SS lines with AN fittings on both sides.

I lol'ed at the $400 for nv4500 part :D

idk wtf they cost, autos are way cheaper. i could have bought a 101k mile 5.3 mated to a 4L60E for 800 bucks with the full wiring harness and computer last weekend at a swap meet. but some people here think your dinghy falls off if your truck only has two pedals.

You got out wrong Adam V10 wins

that would be badass. will you do not? nope.

either leaver the 4.0 as it is, or swap an LS. there is 0 reason to do anything else unless you are trying to stay within some racing class and have to do a stroker.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

I hate people that use terms that are not really what then seem.

Vendor: We use Google SSO services!
Me: Great! Is the site smart enough to use the auth'd google session for creds on the site? Or does it require a separate login process using a Google API?
Vendor: Our Google SSO creates comparable accounts on the site side, for site specific features. This would be permissions, and specific grouping (staff directory, SLMS). Password data is never stored on our site and would not be the same.
Me: So it isn't really a SSO then. You are pulling the user data and then creating users on your side, correct? Passwords not the same? If you used the auth'd session to know the user was logged in such as Fox News, CNN, Facebook, etc do then that would be more along what we are looking for.
Vendor: The confusion I feel comes from what I said regarding the accounts being created on our sites. Essentially, we re-produce the user data, so that there is an account that we may work with within the site. E.g. Applying page permissions, or Page Ownership for teacher pages. No API and it can be an excel upload.
Me: Again, so not a SSO then...

Everyone is going ls, that's why I'm not.

There is a lot of underestimation in the last few pages. It's not that simple.

Just put a nitrous bottle on it and haul buns.

Will a stock XJ radiator cool a 5.3/6.0?

I personally wouldn't want a cast aluminum oil pan. One rock kiss and it's a goner. There goes a few hundred $$$.

You forgot needing to rebuild the exhaust completely.

You'll need a decent cooler if you want an auto to live, even just wheeling. Add on money for a cooler and the lines/fittings to hook it up, even if you just use hard lines and hose/hose barbs it can be like $60 and then another $50 for a cheap cooler that may not even provide enough cooling.

You'll easily blow the $200 on just fuel stuff. A new pump and a regulator will kill that $200 fast. Even if you don't do fancy SS lines and AN fittings, you still need to adapt the regulator to hoses/tubing.

What about money for a tune to delete the VATs and evap stuff?

Nevermind any misc stuff a junkyard motor needs. A gasket or sensor here and there add up fast.

You're also forgetting that he'll need to fab new motor mounts and trans mounts and possibly driveshafts.

Not saying it's still not worth it, but there's no way you'd get away with it for $1200.
