THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

I'm going off the experience of guys that race much harder than I will with this truck, and recommendation from the industry-leading company that builds these kinda parts (spidertrax). I don't know a single person who has had problems even with far more aggressive pad compounds than what I'll be running...so no, I really don't think overheating's gonna be much of a big deal.

I didn't install the calipers yet because TrailGear sent me rear brackets instead of front and I need to see if it's worth grinding them to fit or just exchanging, but I've got Wilwood Dynalite forged stuff to bolt on as well.

your gonna use brakes? I thought you and colin only used trees

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

Anyone ever run a 5x5 XJ dana 30 with WJ hubs and brakes without the knuckle spacers? What stub shafts? I did some googling. The closest to a definite answer that I can find is that you need spacers if running shafts with a u-joint because that's the spacing they are all made to fit. Anyone here know anything that I'm missing?

Run no spacer and all stock WJ if you can get.your hands on the exclusive WJ u-joint shafts. Or use a JK30 stub, should be the same I think. The spacer is only needed when using the TJ/XJ hubs with a different mounting depth.

Export WJ's or something like that got some.

A JK30 stub has a 760 joint, the 44's have the bigger joint.

I don't see why everything stock WJ from the ball joints out with a JK30 stub wouldn't work. I'd like to see a JK30 and XJ/TJ stub side by side.

The reason for the spacer is aligning the ujoint axis and steering axis like Ross said.

The 99.5+ XJ (and some tj, and...) unit bearing is used so that the wheel flange still ends up in a reasonable spot.

You can't just use XJ stubs and WJ unit bearings (you didn't ask, but I am going to answer) because the WJ bearing has more thickness in the splined throat and you wont be able to both install the washer under the nut and the cotter pin.

I would see if you can find someone with a busted jk30 stub you could measure from the ujoint cap bore surface to the back surface of the shoulder the unit bearing seats on. If it is roughly 1/4" shorter than an XJ one (iirc, compare flange to back face offset between a wj bearing and an xj one), and the splines and threads are a bit longer, you have your answer.

No they didn't. All WG's (the export WJ) got CV shafts.

Correct.

I am able to take an image of this.

We have XJ & JK stubs in stock so I can measure both to see if it'll work for him.

I don't remember having to run anything crazy to get the WJ stuff to work?

I think it was just 00/01 unit bearings, sport trac rotors, and that was it?

At least then you can get spare stub shafts anywhere, instead of needing JK stub shafts which aren't around for $20 a set.

He's trying to get a 5 on 5" bolt pattern without wheel spacers.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

To run JK take-offs or something?

Meh. I wouldn't build my setup around factory tires that are probably hard as hell.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

Those JK wheels have tons of backspacing, I cant see running them even with stock tires and not rubbing control arms

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

This was with 1.25" spacers and 12.5"-ish wide tires

Price is the only thing that they have going for them.

They're not like the old KM1's either, they have a variation in the center of the tread so they make less noise, but that also makes them less grippy. I ran those for a while on my old ZJ, and never had the track width it needed, and the traction flat out sucked. It was night and day switching to MTR-K's.

You know how to build jeeps?

That's only what I heard. IRO has u-joint WJ shafts, looks like they're an aftermarket chromo shaft but they used to advertise a stock replace u-joint shafts too

DB is worshiped on all the ZJ forums, he just comes here and looks like an idiot

5spd ZJ gives him instant cred on the forums

Wrench, meet plans.

Better now than after buying all the parts...
