THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

guess who just looked up under his jeep and discovered a cracked bellhousing?

I have the worst luck with ax15/4.0 bellhousings ever. This is the second time this has happened and I even followed the torque specs this time.

$%%$##!#$&!!!!!!!!

Guess I am pulling an ax15 at the junkyard in the rain shortly.

?
I don't know how you do it.the drive train on the 87 was so sloppy the shifter moved 6 inches in the cab and I never cracked a bell

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah, I don't know what the hell. Maybe I just have bad luck.

The MJ's might have been due to the hydrolock at WF12 and me trying to start it a few times to demonstrate to the idiot spectators (who were claiming I just stalled it and it was fine!!!!!1) that it was actually hydrolocked. Not sure.

The replacement for that one was installed in a rush, no surfaces cleaned, all bolts gudentight, way above spec. No issues yet and I've not been very nice to it.

The one in a friend's YJ was torqued to spec and surfaces all cleaned. Its fine to this day.

This one was cleaned, torqued to spec, broke in half in about 2 months of DDing and a few high speed dirt drives that I never even fully compressed the suspension or drooped it out fully on. Shouldn't have been an issue. Broke the **** in half.

I'm still thinking I will probably build a crossmember setup for it like MDTs have that attaches the bell to the frame. Attach the back of the block to the frame and probably add braces from the bottom two bellhousing bolts (the bigass AMC V8 pattern ones that just hold the dust shield on for a 4.0) up to somewhere near the motor mounts on the block side. The smallblock mopar V8s have brackets like that, I always wondered why the 4.0 doesn't. Try breaking that, dammit.

So all this effort on the dipstick for the 440, and it's leaking out of the side of it. Must be a pinhole or something from the fire. Figures

Ordering up locking Lokar dipstick like I should have from the get go.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

My ax -15 was seeping. I didn't tighten the drain plug before filling it  but at least it was the easiest fix possible.

With the addition of a wiring harness, she will run/move. Then comes the fun stuff. Thanks for the help yesterday, Adam.

We would have gotten farther if I didn't get distracted by ground hogs. There's now the meat from one in my fridge.

Awesome dude! Glad to hear you're getting close.

What's left on the list?

I'd just part it at this point

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Thanks Colin. Well, "move" = on stock axles and no lift. So still a lot left. This is just the bolted in drive line swap. I don't make the time to work on it often enough. So I guess my "list" is:

Wiring harness
Mid stiffeners/crossmember
Front stiffeners
Regear d30
Clean up 8.8 (bunch of parts, shock mounts)
3 link/front lift
Rear lift

But the only big thing I need to buy is rims and tires, so that's good.

We'll see if it's at nacfest or not. Warmer weather and getting to the fun stuff should motivate me more.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Adam drop off the stiffys I made? I was too lazy to clean them up, the plasma slag should knock right off with a chipping hammer

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah he did. Thanks man. I'm not worried. That won't take long. Thanks for making them

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Awesome. Glad you're making progress Anthony.

Yup warmer weather has certainly been motivating me too. It's hard to get motivated when it's 40º out and raining/wet.

Torque specs? I just snugged the bolts down on mine. Hopefully it blows up soon.
