Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Place I wanted to go for inspection is only by appointment so I said eff it and went to a local place.

Failed me for excessive rust on door and non working fog lights.

Shot the shit with one of the managers, he loves my jeep, told me to come back next week and he'd pass me lol.

you did it in the wrong order dummy lol but at least you found a guy to pass it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Depends on if he participates in "Barbie jeep" racing. If say either was the likely hood of personal breakage is good. You know how the camp fire gets ken.

Wouldn't be the first time pat breaks a bone rolling down a hill in or on a piece if rolling plastic at a Naxja event...

both of these are very good points

(hoping for a rematch)

You try to get the Comanchee inspected too? $5 says we can get it to pass

Running a wet surface grinder at work this thing rocks! Even as some one who has 2 hours of grinding time I'm having no trouble holding .0005 tolerances!

Can't get the dumb distributer to go in correctly. Gonna have a friend swing by Sunday and give me a hand... Prob just needs another brain to look at it. I'm sure it's at TDC, but the dist won't go in lines up right

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Try starting with it lined up wrong in the opposite direction from how it ends up wrong afterward. The gear teeth are spiral cut, so it's going to end up a bit off from where it started.

i gotta get back to it with a clear head. i rushed home from work to put it back together before dark, it was still kinda raining, work kept calling me, then i ended up with half an hour and got frustrated.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Dude, its takes like 5 minutes!! Even I could figure it out. How the hell do you have a built 3/4t rig yet to cant figure out to stab a distributor in? :dunno:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Any of you guys (Carmelo, Chris, Bill probably)ever see our use scotchman machines? We recently got a 65 ton model at work. It looks like it would be a godsend for making parts for vehicles or general Diy use on loose tolerance parts. Punch, shear, press brake all in one. The 65 ton can shear a 24" wide section of 1/4" steel or a 6" wide section of 1" plate. There are dies available for shearing angle iron, or pretty much any shape you want too. The smaller models can be found used for a few grand. Maybe some day.

My buddy has an old peddinghaus ironworker that we use all the time. Pretty sweet tool but you have to be careful with it because it runs multiple functions at the sane time. Get your hootus stuck in the break while you're drunk and naked trying to use the punch and you'll be sorry.

haha, yup. I've been peeking a little today. Seems like a very reasonable option for what we do. Most of this stuff does not require the tolerances that can be held with a milling machine...

At work we have a few machines that have foot pedals to actuate the hydraulics. Whenever the safety dept comes around they freak out about them because 'you could stick your fingers in there while you push the pedal with your foot'
