more ghey car tire questions. tarah's versa needs new rollers, i'm looking at these...

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Firestone&tireModel=Precision+Touring

seem like pretty good for the $$

You have officially put too much thought into economy car tires...

I use whatever is cheap that doesn't have an obscure name like "eldorado thunderhawk boner miser lst"

Put Kumho Solus's on the pontiac last, they are round, made of rubber, and $66 each. Feel no different than my $120 goodyear eagle rsa's did

They're 67 each. If it was my eco box I wouldn't care, but I wanted to get a good set of tarahs car.

I just put some Pirelli Cinturato P7 Plus ties on Angel's Fusion for about $15 a tire more than that. Not saying the ones you linked those are bad, but the Pirellis seem to be working well in the last to snow storms we've had. I wanted the Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus tires but I couldn't find them in the size we needed and I couldn't wait on tires since I was replacing them due to sidewall damage (thankfully they were due to be replaced anyway). We replaced some Uniroyal tires that were new when we got the car and even since new they stunk in anything other than dry and rain (but to be fair they were summer tires).

That about ends my knowledge on passenger car tires.

Those were my top choice but they don't make em in 15s

Ahh, I was shopping 17s.

Oh, also IMO and experience, car tires go like this:

Summer : great in the season specified.
Winter/snow : Great when the conditions are bad, not so good every other time.
All season : Ok at everything, great at nothing.

If anyone's in the mood for a good headache, read what I've got in mind towards the bottom of this thread and tell me if I've gone off the deep end or not.

Just buy the right stuff already. You already have to many non-standard oddball things going on with that "race contraption". :moon:
For all the time and money you have into it do you really want to trial all that back feeding stuff on on something like steering?

Um.

So what's the "right stuff"?

If you're going to say "a good hydro-assist box and ram", I have that already.

If you're going to say "full hydro", well that won't work, class rules.

With the exception of the servo valve, the only difference between trying it my oddball way vs. the standard way is plumbing. And I need an intermediate bearing for the steering shaft anyway as I don't have a straight shot to the box from the steering column.

Go back and look at it conceptually. It's not like I'm looking to put pressure into places that shouldn't have it. I'm just getting it there more efficiently. ;)

Personal experience.....I ran a set of kumho excsta 712's on my Nissan pickup...ran in autocrosses and street...a lot...they were great in warm weather (hello, Korean made), below 55 degrees they were hard as a rock and frankly scary on even dry pavement...look closely at how small the contact patch between your tires and the road actually are....tires are one area that I will never skimpy on, ftw. Your life is not worth saving a hundred bucks..I can't stand it when people chime in recommending cheap tires.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Ditto.

I usually recommendation Michelin for tires. We had a set on my moms ramcharger a while back. Things were amazing traction wise, super quiet, and lasted 60k+
