THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Anyone have a recommendation on a good tool bag?

I bought a HF like $10 one and obviously it's exploded after one race and and Fall Crawl.

Something like this one

For racing I guess? Get an ammo box and bolt it to the bed. Mine is like 50 years old and has bounced down trails and around 2 jeeps and is still waterproof and holds all the tools I need plus some spare ujoints and whatever.

I probably should just do something like that, but it's easier to have a toolbag.

Eventually I'll have a second set of tools I can just leave in the jeep, but for now I have to transfer tools between my toolbox and the jeep when I go racing/wheeling. Toolbag makes that way easier.

Keep a bag/bags in it. I have a small bag of sockets, a few open end wrenches, spindle nut thing, screwdriver, zip ties, electrical tape...

I barely go to my actual toolbox unless I need an oddball tool when I'm actually working on my jeep at home.

x2. I bought a second set of Husky tools from HD, then added in some tools specific to the Jeep as needed. I've had very few occassions where I didn't have a tool to pull something I needed in the junkyard (which is where my set sees most of its use). I have duplicates of everything and my nicer tools in my box at Pat's.

Jeep/truck only tools was an awesome decision, no more fumbling around packing stuff. My tools are always Ready to go in my truck

Yup. And there's only one or two tools I'd be upset if I lost in my jeep set... And I'd only be out 30-40 bucks if I lost both

I like the Husky ones from HD. Takes me about 6 months to nuke one of these, with it bouncing around in the back of my jeep every day and dragging it through junkyards at least once a week: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-17-in-Open-Tool-Tote-82002N11/203224201#.UjcOL8akpfc

I would recommend this one, since you want a closed-top: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-18-in-Tool-Bag-82003N11/203224309#.UjcOVMakpfc

My current one is still holding together but the organization pockets on the outside are almost all shot at this point and the ones on the inside aren't far behind. I've had it since like December and it's probably been airborne more time than it hasn't with ~80lbs of tools inside.

I've been using the husky bags for years. toss em all in a Rubbermaid box and strap it down.

I use ammo cans for spare parts I don't want to get wet.

Any one know of anyone with a sliding rear window in a chopped xj?

Those rubbermaids suck though. I want to build a shelf into my rear cage/shock hoops and toss an action packer underneath for all that crap.

for 8 bucks it keeps all my tools dry and in one place.

Vice grips is all you need and you just vice grip them to something and they won't go anywhere.

Yup, that's what I use in my Jeep as well.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Dear apple,
I've been using iOS7 for a month or so now in beta and now the GM and I like it (other than the calendar that makes you scroll for appointments now, very dumb).

However, when I am on the phone on my iPhone (emphasis on phone) there is no need to mute my phone call to blast a meeting reminder full volume in my ear.

Thank you.
