Anybody got a good trick to remove all the old grease from a wheel bearing? Some sort of liquid solution that I can put in a cup and toss the bearings in overnight? Looks like I can reuse the 60 bearings I have and 3 outta 4 races, one race has spot of pitting that concerns me everything else is free of marks or discoloration.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

drop em in a 5 gallon pail with a gallon of old gas. Let it sit for like an hour, scrub halfheartedly, then remove from pail and rinse gasoline and remaining grease off with a little brakleen.

gas is better at cutting thick grime and grease than acetone/brakleen is for some reason. And acetone/brakleen gets gas off amazingly. It's also good for cooking.

Patrick McCarthy,
I am posting this in reference to our conversation from earlier this evening.

You'd want a real strong solvent. Acetone or MEK would probably cut the grease. MEK is nasty stuff tho. Wouldn't even take overnight... It would all evaporate by then.

Welcome to MA where, apparently, ignorance of the law is an excuse.

Incompetent to stand trial, yet competent enough to come here illegally, and stay here for a period of time with fake documents? I call bs. When he hit Matthew he didnt just stop. He dragged him down the street for a distance before stopping. Illegals like this in my eye dont get the same rights in court as we do. They are already criminals. Rant over...

Ross diesel fuel works really well for dissolving heavy grease. Don't use gasoline it'll leave a residue (never mind the whole explode in your face thing)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Whoever made garden tractor 5 pin ignition switches that both fit the same connector yet are completely incompatible ought to be shot.

The kind I have: GLBSM (ground, lights, battery, starter, magneto)
The kind I need: RABIS (rectifier, accessory, battery, ignition, starter)

Of course they don't even come close to working right when used in the wrong vehicle, even though they plug into the same exact connector

You need the control box for the cruise control?
Also text me your adress so I can ship the stuff up to you :twak:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I don't need the control box - just that funky sensor with the cable/connector it plugs into, should have a blue wire and a grey wire I think. Thanks a ton.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So I bought a 47uF 50V electrolytic polarized capacitor.

Fixed all the noise, AFR is rock solid, and all sensor inputs are MUCH more crisp.

SO HAPPY to finally be done with that.

What's left, finish the tube work?

I gotta get hustling on my bumper so I can try to make it next weekend. I may just wheel with it half done if it comes down to it.
