THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

If you've ever looked at trailer axles, they're bowed from the factory so they end up straight when loaded.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did it for 1-ton axles, but I've never seen evidence of it.

I thought one of the benefits of a solid axle is that the camber doesent change when weight is added or removed.

I remember ford using this concept to defend the fact the mustang still has a live rear axle.

so when the car squats on take off you always maintain the proper contact patch with the ground. IDk i saw it on some ford sponsord youtube vid about a year ago

It just doesn't make sense to me since the tube is a hell of a lot thicker and larger diameter on d60s than on trailer axles (at least as far as I've seen) and the axleshaft can't really get too offcenter in the knuckle or get much side load on it without binding against the splines in the side gear and/or causing real ujoint issues.

I would expect to see more camber increase from someone heating the shit out of the top of their axle housing while welding a truss / coil / control arm mounts on than from the difference in weight. Wouldn't be surprised if some of it is from people running axles with the pinion rotated up more than they were in the factory Ford truck, too, since that would reduce caster, bringing the kingpin axis more vertical and making the camber change more noticeable. Not sure if it would reduce or increase camber though, I'm confusing myself thinking about it.

I Don't want to throw money at a turdy.
V8 steering and a lock right or Aussie that's as far as I'd be willing to go.
8.25 Aussie.

I know mtz are amazing, how are claws?
with the exception of thornbirds claws are the worst off road tire ever, in seriousness your a long ways away from tons, you cant keep a rig together on stock tires theres no way your gonna beable to run tons under your rig

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

just a FYI Nascar cars are running mad camber in solid rear axles this year

It's weird, I was about to suggest the exact opposite. One tons and thornbirds never seem like a bad idea to me.

ive never ran thornbirds or seen em on the trail, i just read on the internets they suck massive donkey dick everywhere

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I had thornbirds briefly. Went "mudding" with them a couple times. I loved how shitty they were. I want to be that asshole sliding around the trail, going nowhere just making a lot of noise in his big dumb truck on undersized thornbirds. You know, until my fuel pump sucks down a leaf and Ken has drive over my dad's foot.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I imaging if you grooved the shit out of a set of thornbirds they might do ok. but unless you could get them for crazy cheap I doubt it would be worthit.

Worth every penny if all you care about is looking like an idiot, which, is all I care about.
