Cliff notes: They made over 1200hp with 26psi of boost, stock bottom end, over 60 dyno pulls, many back to back and a majority over 1000hp. It didn't really do anything to the motor, just had an ignition system failure.
Then they pulled it apart to find out what, if anything, was damaged and discovered that it was a 4.8, not a 5.3. Over 4hp/ci :shocked:
I think a stock bottom end 5.3 would live goddamn near forever at 500hp or below. I'm pulling that completely out of my ass, but it survived 1000+hp for quite a few pulls...

I have a mopar magnum 3.9 v6 swap into a 91 toyota pickup coming up soon but that's about it aside from job hunting and fixing the house. Last swap was Billy's old 4.0 into an 87 YJ with a carb and after replacing a single fuse it fired right up with the custom spliced harness I threw together for it.
