THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

This is kinda why I don't have much 'physical' progress to show.

Without a drivetrain, I can't place anything. Everything revolves around where the motor and drivelines end up. So until I get the motor, trans, and t-case bolted together, I'm really just guessing at everything else.

First step is gonna be to de-body the Explorer, and get it down to just a rolling frame. Next is to set the YJ tub on it, using the grille placement in relation to the front tires etc to set where the body ends up. Then I gotta see how far back I can jam the motor in it while keeping a reasonable rear driveline length. That sets the trans mount, then crossmembers, then links, and so on.

So once the drivetrain is figured out, seats and wheels/tires become the next big purchases, and then it's time to build a car around all of it.

Simple, really.

That blows dude. Don't worry 2 more days and we're reunited and it feels so good.

Yeah its fine. Work isn't too bad I guess but every little thing has been getting to me lately. Wont get into it here or probably at all but yup. That's that!

7 should be fine for me on Thursday. Just remind me at some point :laugh3:

Digikey sells waterproof D-Sub connectors:

The manufacturer is Assmann. :snort:
I remeber seeing their logo in digikey catalogs in highschool, back when the catalog was 1/4 inch thick instesd of being bigger than a phonebook (shit, remember phonebooks?)

Hmm...kinda neat.

Using something like that to make the harness cable would definitely ease my mind a little. That'd seal right up against the housing.

No way would I use a dsub on an automotive harness. Amphenol/canon round milspec or bust. They are pricey but worth it... and I got a case of huge ones for free at school when they were emptying a storeroom into a dumpster.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Spent the evening welding my buddy's subframe connectors into his car.

I think that cleaned the sand out of my vagina.

Do all front end suspension parts (incl driveshaft) swap between XJ and MJ? Front half of the two are the same, it's just the rear half of the vehicle that differs, right?

My friend who had the airplane in my yard wants to build two 250lb thrust jet engines.

And put them on my MJ.

I don't even want to know what the results of this will be.

Ken, when you say things like this it makes me want to vote for you for president. Or marry you, I'm not sure yet.

SECONDLY, I went to my first "Gentlemen's club" tonight. Unfortunately it was in Ohio, and INCREDIBLY depressing. I'll probably be back Thursday.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I should really just pull the engine of this TDI and build it. I'm already so close. Head is off tranny is out. I mean whats another few bolts and then I can do rings, bearings and oil pump.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Just got a call back from my local police department; looks like I have an appointment to review my firearms ID/pistol permit this Saturday. :)

It's only taken me a few weeks to get this far. :|

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

My phone (android) XXXXed up last night and I have no clue how to fix it. I adjusted the settings in my flashlight app (not sure if this has anything to do with it) but after that the only icon on my taskbar is "applications"... previously it had icons for phone, calendar, text messages, and applications.

The applications icon is now centered so it appears that android is functioning correctly, but it's just like the other three icons got deleted and idk how to get them back. Anyone know where the setting is to add/remove items from the applications bar (the quick launch bar at the bottom of the home screen)?

IIRC it took like 30-45 days for me to get mine. Few weeks isn't too bad unless they drag it out for another month or two.

You don't understand.

I haven't even submitted the application yet. This is the appointment where they look over the application, say OK, you filled in all the boxes, and send it off for the next guy to sit on for a month or two.

All for the paltry sum of $5 for the ID processing fee and $2 for the pistol permit. Guys, if it's *really* that big a hassle, I'm willing to throw you a few extra bucks for it, trust me...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

When I got my LTC class A unrestricted it was an act of god to get my chief of police to okay it. probably took 3 months. And it was like 90 bucks plus a class to certify you. really silly.
