THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Just got home w/ a leinenkugel autumn sampler and found a couple unexpected packages along with a paycheck. Packages ended up being the pin spanner I ordered along with my Heleta order. Grabbed a slice of pizza and a beer, changing, and heading out to the Jeep. Good night so far, let's hope to continue this trend.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Tonight went from "XXXX yeah!" to "oh XXXX!" pretty quickly.

Got the Jeep on it's on weight, on the 35s, with the tie rod on. fired it up, let it idle for a while, and revved it w/ no leaks , turned the steering back and forth a tiny bit (nowhere near lock to lock) with no leaks . XXXX yeah!

Started moving it into the garage and saw a bit of a leak behind us; idk what it was but I did see something dripping near the exhaust while idling so it may have just been condensation.... Almost got it into the garage when heard my father hit full lock on the steering box.... he turned the wheel after I told him not to which pushed the cap of the steering box cap out enough to break the seal and it sprayed PS fluid everywhere, nice puddle. HUGE :thumbdn: which gets me to the Oh XXXX

Told him to just shut it down and we manually pushed it the rest of the way into the garage (instead of letting him sit inside and control the clutch/throttle to help make life easier). Jeep is now in the garage, I topped off the fluid to keep an eye on how much leaks, and I'm hoping for the best. maybe the seal reseated itself OK and I'll be fine... maybe not and I'll have to pull the box and re-do some of the rebuild. I'll figure that shit out tomorrow.

Sorry for the long post.

Man you are just having terrible luck with that steering box. Hope it works out.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

After actually checking it briefly (I was too pissed to give a damn earlier) I'm not sure if it was leaking from the end of the box or what.. There was a slight wet spot inside the front crossmember but not nearly as much as I expected (and I'm not sure if that was new or old or even PS fluid at all).

Maybe (hopefully) my high pressure hose is just a bit loose and when my father hit full lock the sudden increase in pressure caused excessive leakage? Based on the hoses/underbody parts that were hosed down it almost seems like that could be the case. I guess I'll just throw on some shitty clothes and swim goggles tomorrow night, lay under the Jeep watching the box, and have my buddy hit full lock tomorrow to find out :gee:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Drinking some weird honey brewed beer. It's damn good.

Does it happen to be Leinenkugel's Honey Weiss?

I just wandered down to the fridge and pulled one of the beers out of my fall sampler and it was a honey weiss. Not bad but I have to try it again to give my real opinion... I just finished a porter so comparatively this is a bit bland.

No idea.... she added me yesterday... guess she added you to?

Yeah. She's pretty hot, huh?

Also just found out I might be going to Mexico City to go check out some broken stuff for work. Apparently not having a license is an excuse for me to travel more...go figure.

Travis I have no experience with tuners but from what I'm read on the internet (and you know that makes me an expert) I'd go with EFI Live. Canned tuners can't touch the things you can do with EFI.

Yeah that's what I posted yesterday about the DSP5 looking interesting. For $800 I can get the 5 position switch, and a new ECM with 5 tunes loaded onto it, and I'll get $300 of that back when I return to them my stock ECM... Then I've got the option down the road to buy the software myself and download/create other tunes myself. To buy the whole shebang at once is about $1100 but to skip the software bit for now basically cuts the price in half. It does seem like it's the best option overall, but some of the canned tuners are attractive just simply because of the fact that they're that much cheaper. I've got at least a few months before I can seriously consider getting anything, but I want to start researching it all now and be a well informed shopper once the time comes :)
