THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm about to put 2" more lift in the rear of my MJ for freeeeeee!

I won't be adding the other ~7-8" of free lift yet though.
your taking all the shit out of the bed? "Ken's majical adjustable ride hieght suspention"

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Practical cars can be fun. And I agree... the reliability is great. If you can have both a practical car and a fun car (whether it's a small car built for track duty or a Jeep or whatever the hell you want) then by all means go for it.

Just pulled out the smoker. Firing it up and smoking brisket later. I think it's about time to pour some whiskey or grab a beer... Just have to make sure I'm not responsible to run any errands later before doing so.

haha nope I did that last night, got another 2" when I took the 7 80lb bags of mortar mix out. I'm pulling the 2" blocks right now.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

4 hours wrenching = got nowhere.

knuckle is garbage, the hole is wallowed out for the ball joint. welded the ball joint to the knuckle. drove down the street ~45mph, hit a bump, huge DW. cracked the welds.
I might have another knuckle for you at work, I will check on Tuesday. I think its already drilled and tapped too.
keep an eye out for a partout thread, bc im XXXXing done with this shit. im not living with a car payment, and a CC bill for a jeep i cant drive, and not being able to save a cent.
Just finish it already. Get a DD and finish the jeep on your own time frame.
Dont forget, I did almost the same build as you, on my only vehicle, and did it in 4 days. You think mine was perfect the minute I drove it out of the shop? not even close. It wasn't even safe to drive down the road, but look back and see if you can find any posts from me about giving up

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Getting a DD isn't a bad idea, leasing something is retarded, parting out the jeep even more so. Pull the string out and actually finish your XXXXing project before giving up on it. So you need another knuckle, BFD. If this shit was cheap and easy everyone would do it.

That being said. Someone convince me to fix mine to run Big Dogs and the 7-miler rather than start stripping it this weekend.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Chris, stop being a giant poon and fix that shit. I will donate 400 feet of home depot rope to the effort.

Can you hoist the motor up far enough to get a drill + drill extension over the top of the frame rail or is your coilover mount in the way? I couldn't quite tell from your picture.

Top of the trans is smashed up against the top of the trans tunnel as it is. I'm planning on hooking a wrecker to the motor anyway and yanking it as far over as possible. Initial forecast does not look promising.

Chris, take your own advice and don't bitch out.

There's a difference. He's bitching out on a project that he hasn't finished, hasn't gotten to enjoy yet, and really isn't far at all from being what he wants it to be.

In my case, i'm talking about putting tons of work and hundreds of dollars into something that is going to be parted out by the end of the month anyway, just to limp it along through one more wheeling trip to a place i've been to many times, and a race i've ran twice before.

Or i could put that time and money towards starting the next rig, go ride along at big dogs and the 7-miler, and enjoy myself rather than hoping that my last bandaid fix isn't gonna cause a trail plug or a DNF.

Keep trying, i'm still listening, just not in a good mood about it right now.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Honestly, I'd probably buy a Brown Dog Super Mount for the pass side block, you can buy them individually. Call em up and see if you can get it shipped ASAP, bolt the sucker on (using any bolts you can get out fast, plus all the others) then weld up some hokey frame out of angle that goes under the oil pan, up the side of the motor, and over the valve cover and connects to the frame. If the super mount breaks off, the motor bangs around in your frame and hopefully you finish the race.

Either that or do like you said and start dumping money into the new rig and part/scrap the old one. Probably not as fun, but more economical for sure.

FWIW: I completely understood all of that before you said it. And I really shouldn't be one to tell someone to do work on a project... I haven't sold mine... just don't GSD often but hopefully that is changing soon, been feeling good lately and actually feel bad when I don't work on it... hope that continues.

Only work I have done today so far is drink octoberfest and prepare/start cooking a 10+ lb brisket. Jeep stuff can wait until tomorrow but I'm pissed, the plugs are 2 towns away from me but I have to wait until tuesday for delivery and I REALLY wanted to wait until I had the plugs before re-assembling the PS box.

And my uncle is over, he got here probably around 2ish, rough guesstimate. first thing he asked me was if the mustang out front was mine... about 40 minutes ago he asked "hey... ummm... do you mind if I take that for a spin, never drove one before..." as soon as I gave him the keys he told his daughter that they were going for a ride and she ran down with him... awesome. haven't heard from them since. Hope this plants a seed of awesome in his daughters brain.

This uncle was always the "play hard" type of guy until he settled down with his wife. I think she really puts a damper on his 'fun' spending. Kinda depressing really. I need to take him wheeling sometime once I'm done. Speak of the devil... just pulled up to the house I think

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So I'm working on the briarwood, and I noticed that the intake is all wet inside. It is coated with gas. It had been sitting for a while, and I checked the fuel pressure at the schrader valve, and there was nothing. Possible leaking injector?

And it looks like there are studs in my exhaust manifold where the down pipe attaches, wtf? There were only bolts on my '99, and now one is broke and one is cut, and I can't get them out.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Iirc mine had studs too. Broke them, that's why I have a c clamp on there now

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Adam, screw the leafs. If you're going to go through with parting it I want the shell, wiring, motor, and tranny.

all the XJs I've seen have studs, I always hammer them out (a 3lb sledge and a good punch make it easy, or an air chisel) and tack weld in a 5/16" bolt.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Mark, factry manifolds had studs, most aftermarket has bolts, my fix for borken studs is just to go at it from the side with a grinder and make a notch so a bolt can slide in, that lastes blue jeep from sept to feb, issue wouldnt of happened if adams stupid ass didnt break

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

and mother XXXXer, just got shifter boot all buttoned up and i forgot to add fluid to the trans, mother XXXXer bitching ho's

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Going to skydrive the seXJ at my friends sandpit tonight. Just got the call they're building a jump now with the loader:D

 where and when

Ordering airbags for the back of the MJ, it's gonna be nice to not drag ass when I have a full load. Looks like the airbags I'm getting will only take about 18psi to compensate for 1000lbs in the bed.

Neither have worked so far.

I definitely remember green jeep having bolts.

And the fuel rail definitely doesn't hold pressure, I let it sit for about an hour and not a drop sprayed out after pressing the valve. XXXX this piece of shit.
