THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

DO NOT TAKE THIS AS A PERSONAL ATTACK.

But that's what we told you when you started out. You have to be REALLY into it to take on something like this because it's a huge expense.

To me, not much else gives the same enjoyment.

i pay for prostitutes and they give me the same if not more enjoyment then wheeling.

kidding. That was a false statment, i get them for free.

I do recall being told this a couple times.

I was more focused on the fun of building it at the time, then rust got the better of me.

From what I have observed Chris, Sam, Colin, Billy, and Travis are the ones who really enjoy this stuff the most. Notice that I'm not including myself in that brief list.

So who knows. I sure do miss driving my XJ but I know it's never going to be the same. A new shell would probably give me the most enjoyment the fastest with the least work. I need to make up my mind but I don't really feel like doing that yet.

Nah no thanks. Already got one of those :laugh2:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I guess I should have noted in my case those travel numbers for the front where shock travel, not wheel travel. Out back I'm using all 14" of the shock travel, so am I at least semi-cool? :D

I don't need as much up travel as you as I'm not bombing around at 50mph all the time. I would be nice to have a little more, but it works well for the majority of what the rig gets used for. If I had some spare cash I would like to firm up the front shocks compression just a little bit, but that's ~$25 (if rebound too, add $10). Spendy spendy. :looney:

Your little go-cart-buggy-thing will be neat.

Straight up/down travel for me too.

Either way I don't care, I still plan on bombing around at 50 mph all the time.

:D

EDIT: Oh, and you don't need any travel if your rig just sits in the garage all the time :D

Hence why we told you to get another shell

Either way, yeah if you don't want to do all the work and want the quickest way out of it, just keep it full bodied on like 33-35s. Bolt-on the aftermarket suspension of your choice, gear it, etc. You can drive it to the trail and enjoy it.

Oh and you forgot Billy in that list

Yeah... It does get expensive.

I considered selling Jeep stuff in favor of other hobbies as well. Right now I'm still on the fence.
Ya, but I was joking when I said it, hence the smiley.

I actually edited that back in before you posted. Sorry Billy

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

people who don't get orgasmic amounts of enjoyment out of wheeling are big fat sillyheads.

I can't XXXXing wait.

The target weight is half my XJ.

Yesterday on Craigslist I found within 50 miles of me, all 3 vehicles that I need to start the bulk of the project, for under $1k total, not including what I can get back after scrapping the stuff I don't need.

Of those 3 ads, no one has gotten back to me. :rattle:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Wish I rode the motorcycle to work right about now...
I did :D

Having a lot of gear is nice. I get to work and I'm not frozen.

I haven't driven my car since Thursday.

To the tune of a Dos Equis commercial...

I was going to ride regardless of the temperature but decided to put the bike away last night anticipating rain overnight since I wasn't keeping up with the weather.

I need to get a cover this season so I can ride w/o dealing with digging it out of the shed and/or wiping off the morning dew all summer. Highly considering one of these

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

im pretty sure my xj fits that bill.

It's also slowly folding in half.

I don't care what mine weights.

I also plan on adding an engine that weighs 150 lbs more than a 4.0.

I used to think like that.

There's only one spot I can think of at the moment where I'll be using anything thicker than 3/16" material...it'll mostly be 1/8".

The frame is heavy, but I won't have to do anything to it - it's 1/4" C-channel. Things like motor mounts, cage tie-ins, etc can just go right to the frame, no stupid plating needed. Plus I'm only using the front half of it - behind the seats will be backhalfed anyway.

I'd say maybe half the cage will be 1.75" x .120; 1.5" x .120 for the rest of it. Probably even thinner wall for interior stuff.

Lots more planning and consideration going into this one.
