THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

It looks like all he does is just chop off the top mating surface, and clean up the OD of the hub?
Idk what it involves, but that is what it looks like, yes. I just know he's a real good dude.

Ken posted on UJ. He'll be back here sooner than later, I imagine.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Ken is just building up the anticipation, I know that is what he is doing, he has been on here since his last post.

From the description, I don't know why he would face the mating surface for the rotor/wheel, because if he doesn't have the axis of the part and machine absolutely perfect, the wheel will wobble on the vehicle.

Yeah, I've seen him reading too.

It would. That's why he doesn't screw up

I'm not sure exactly what his credentials are, but I know he's been involved with gun mfg and machining. He's used to tight tolerances.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

who cares. if you ignore him he will post sooner.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Dirtbike I can ride right now > Jeep I can't :laugh3:

I was talking to Scotty about them for a while last night. I'd either get a 450-500cc 4 stroke or a 250cc 2 stroke. A KTM seems ideal, but they're expensive.

I'm still trying to figure out were Anthony is going to ride a dirt bike in Westport.

I'm still trying to figure out if Anthony actually has a rolling pin collection.

I'd prefer to think that Anthony actually has a shit-ton of wooden rolling pins stashed away somewhere.

Thinking of a pile of shocks & bumps sitting idle for the next two years is much more disturbing.

I don't even know how to begin to comment on any of that.

Can't you just throw the bearings in and spin it on something?

Sounds dumb I know, but seems like you could do it on a lathe?

This coming from someone who has one and has yet to use it.

:D

No, you wouldn't use bearings. Bearings have play, even the most infinitesimal amount of play will cause the part to start vibrating and the tool to chatter.

Yes, you would just throw the hub on a lathe (griping a hard surface), and turn down the big mounting lip. Depending on how big the jaws on your chuck on your lathe is, you could probably even do it on yours. Best way would to use a 4 jaw chuck, and indicate it in so that the axes are colinear to within a thousandth or two. I know from experience how awesome it is to indicate something with a 4 jaw chuck. And when I mean awesome, I mean time consuming pain in the ass, keep rotating and making small adjustments.

Why would you prefer a 4 jaw chuck vs 3 jaw for this job? Seems like wasted effort.
