THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I SEE HOW IT IS! NOT INVITING ME ARE YOU?! :spin1:

I'm probably gonna be having a minor smash shit and burn things party at my place tomorrow night, and continuing to work on the house friday night as well. I am a boring person.

 I don't really care who comes, you're more than welcome too. I wasn't expecting a huge turnout as im sure a bunch of people have stuff to do.

I figured :laugh2:

I'm really hoping to have the bathroom functional and most of the rooms gutted by the end of April, and if that is going to happen I need to bust ass on this. The bathroom is taking a ridiculous amount of time to strip simply because it's got like 4 rooms worth of wall covering on it, and they're layered in such a way that I basically have to peel them off one at a time, walls and ceilings were added in alternating layers so a layer of wall blocks a layer of ceiling, then that one blocks the previous layer of wall, etc.

It's kinda fun, and great exercise. Could do without it pouring plaster dust in my eyes occasionally.

Travis, want pick up Mark with me?
Still not sure if I'm coming yet. I was talking with my dive buddy in my scuba class, and there is a little shindig this Friday night that he was asking if I was going to. Still not sure what I'm doing yet though.

[photo talk] Most of ya'll can skip this.

A ND filter isn't a people eraser, just adds darkness. Moving people could be cool... I don't think I'd use a ND filter that late at night anyway. You need all the light you can get...

No, it doesn't magically erase people, but since it makes it darker, you have to compensate by a longer shutter, which will in turn make people walking more of a blur and fade into the background.

"Architecture photographers have a useful technique that often needs an ND filter to work. When photographing famous landmarks you often have problems with tourists getting in the way. If the shutter speed is slow enough it will be open long enough to ensure the moving people are so blurred they cannot be seen on the image. A 1/2sec exposure may record a streak of someone walking while a 4 sec exposure will make them vanish. Simple, but very effective. "
Example here

Then again I've never played with it at night, but I do have a remote and tripod so I could do fairly long exposures. I think it would be useful if I were to go for an "abandoned" theme. I wonder if the photo lab has any wide angle lenses.

My question remains. :D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I remember seeing that the last time it was for sale. I also remember when mine was in that nice of condition. I can't tell if you were posting it for me, or in hopes to sort of shove it in my face that I crashed mine, because i certainly felt a little bit inside me drop when I remembered how nice mine was...

Was just posting it to show you a nice Jeep, not to rub in your accident.

Speaking of your photography, I'm watching One Hour Photo...forgot how freaking creepy it is!

I couldn't think of the right way to word it. Not really shove it in my face, more of like a friendly "hey remember when yours used to look this nice....oh sorry about that." I can't explain it. Anyways thanks for posting it, I really do love that blue color.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Oh, and because you guys love cooking so much, the next project is gonna be slow-cooked beef brisket. Details to follow.
Don't waste meat that way, use a smoker.
I wanna drive and shift a manual RHD car.
First RHD vehicle I drove was a 80's toyota landcruiser, just imported from australia. diesel, stick, lifted on 35's locked front and rear, and I had got run emissions on it.

I don't have a smoker, I have a slow cooker.

There are ways to get pretty good results still. The spare ribs I did last weekend turned out great, and the pulled pork and chili have been fantastic as well...just lookin for something new to try. :D If you've got any ideas, I'm open to suggestions.

So let's say you had a bunch of corn meal, sugar, yeast, and water sitting around that you mixed up and let sit for a few weeks.

And let's say you also had an apparatus that might look something like this.

And let's say you combine these things and apply heat for a few hours, you might end up with a few pints of something that looks like crystal-clear water.

And that water-looking substance might be 140-proof, kinda flammable, and have a very distinctive yet smooth taste.

:D
