Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Been here almost 5 years with 0 sick days.

I've come in with welding flash so bad I couldn't even see my monitor, and one day where I had no vocal capabilities at all. My first 3 sick days per year come out of my PTO. XXXX that.
I've taken a couple, usually when I'm down with the flu and don't want to be a plague rat. Took one a few weeks ago for what was probably a partially blocked intestine... the cure? mexican food. I'm not joking :roflmao:

i like listening to people here talk about car problems and what their mechanics say to them. its funny.
most of the people on my team ask me first before bending over for the mechanic, a few ask after they get the mechanic working on it  this is actually why I left work an hour and a half later than the already late time I planned yesterday, the guy in the next cube over asked me what to do about the oil light coming on randomly in his 02 mazda MPV. He said his mechanic was going to charge him a few hundred dollars to swap the oil pressure sender and actually suggested just swapping a new junkyard motor into it "because it would take about as long as a new oil pump". Told him to either find a new mechanic, or let me look at it over lunch next week and see if I could get to the oil pressure sender...

one of the others had a fuel pump die on her saturn, and agreed to pay the mechanic 800 dollars to replace it. The part is 300, the rest was labor. I can only assume that it's one of those stupid cars where the rear axle / suspension has to come out to drop the tank...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Got another line on a T18. Might be able to trade some parts for it:thumbup: Have to "upgrade" to a manual now that Sam has a J10 with a stick. A little birdy told me he also wants to link it and race it. It'll be AMC vs Chevy, Leafs vs Links, Junkyard parts vs fancy new stuff, this is going to be an epic face off.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

if he paints flames on his it will definitely be faster than yours

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

If you hadn't noticed, the paint job on mine is far better than any flame paint job ever devised.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

This is my plan for my fuel lines instead of buying new OEM lines from the tank to the fuel rail:

(2x) Derale 98200
- AN-6 to 3/8 hose barb

(1x) Russell 640853
- Fuel rail (pressure side) to AN-6

(1x) Russell 640863
- Fuel rail (return side) to AN-6

(1x) 25ft Goodyear FI hose (50 psi working pressure)

I'm going to run rubber from the tank down to the frame rail, hard line (double flared, hose clamped) up the rail to the intake manifold (factory clamp on manifold) then double flared/hose clamped up to the fittings on the fuel rail.

I think it should be fine and I can replace any part of it easily.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Why not use the stock fuel line on the body? I have never seen one rot out, they are stainless steel iirc. The goofy quick disconnect fittings rust out though, especially the lower one on the flex line from the body to the manifold.

I'd run all stock except at the tank end, then flare it like you said and run rubber from there to the pump.

theres alot of rust around mine, plus with these jeeps bein kinda old it be a good idea to swap that shit out while your at it

I don't have the stock fuel lines anymore.

Plus they were for a 2.5TBI...so completely wrong.

:dunno:

the vapor or fuel return line sure, those are crusty as hell on every jeep I've ever looked at. Why replace a stainless steel line that is fine though? It's better quality than anything I can get at my local parts store, don't know where Colin goes though.

The flex lines and quick disconnects I won't argue with, but I'd probably be a lazy sack and run the stock ones if they looked like they were in OK shape.
