THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Chris, I was sort of thinking the same thing about the flexy thing. I wonder if he messed up a decimal place and they came in bent by 0.030 and not 0.003, though that would be quite a lot for a shaft to later be used in a gear train.

I think I had an intelligent response to the "it will bend 8" and barely deform" comment.

I think everyone needs to stop posting in that thread so he doesn't feel overwhelmed.

We don't need 10 different engineers telling him 10 different ways that his arms suck.

It's pretty simple.

this is why I haven't posted anything... but it IS only 3 engineers right now :lecture:

I've already told him every problem I see with them via either PM or other threads, also. No hard numbers, just my gut feeling on material strength which usually ends up being slightly conservative.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I just posted a Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab 4x4 in the NAC Classifieds section. Its down this way and needs trans work, but in the pics it looks like it is in really decent shape. Could also tow too. Check out the link in my FS post....

As an engineer, I don't care if he feels overwhelmed. As a NAXJA member, I don't want to put him in that position.

His setup looks pretty good, if he'd just beef up the links and joints. It is pretty simple, I agree. So why doesn't he see it?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

you come to nh to do elec work
Electrical house wise? Ok.
Electrical automotive wise? Anything beyond the basics is Ken's deal.

I'm not sure if we are headed out on the sleds or not. If not, you are welcome to swing down tonight we'll probably be hanging out in the barn or shooting pool. Although you probably have work to get done on the XJ.
Working on the MJ tomorrow and Sunday.

Hopefully getting the bed/wheel wells done.

Wanna help?

:D
Depends on if my schedule has been made for me or not if you get my drift. I'll call you later.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Oh yeah, I didn't get sh*t done on mine this week :loser:

I might help fix Scotty's friend's truck tonight... He helped out on my VW and it would be only fair. He just blew a brake line. Should be an easy fix.

XXXX that thread, I still want him to go back to the one from 5 days ago. :D

So far he's doing a decent job of digging his own hole.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

my goals for the weekend include

box in lca mounts
lower shock mounts
cut floor to clear uca
trim clayton crossmember to clear jamnut
start adding bracing and gussets to frame end uca
check and see when steering will be ready for pickup

No comment on the first part, it wasn't meant to start an argument.

His setup is crap all over, are you serious?

Non-boxed 1/4" LCA mounts, non-reinforced belly pan, and non boxed UCA mount.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Alright out of the 111gb's my harddrive has availible, I know where roughly 80gb of it is, and I now have just over 9gb free. Where can I find the other 20gb?

go to download.com

get ccleaner. run it.

So, weekend projects?
What's the plans?

working OT saturday....

Naw I wasn't trying to argue with you there either. If it came across that way, my bad.

I guess if you're welding a kit together, you'd know enough to take the time to box in the mounts? But then again, if you're buying a kit, it should come with all the parts to assemble it completely and have it work. A good kit would anyway.

I will admit, I thought his belly pan was boxed or at least thicker like your old TNT... mah b again.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i know a little bird whom just ordered a mega hi9 for his scooble powered buggie

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

who has a scoobie powered buggie?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

TNT is only 3/16" I believe, but was braced on the backside in multiple spots and supported on the sides with L-brackets and through bolts that were sleeved through the frame.

His is 1/4" with no supports at all. Just like 45* upward bends at each end. It's too long/wide for those bends to help at all.

Those LCA mounts wouldn't last one trip out. They'd be mangled.
