THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I bet those transfer punches transfer the shape of the object you are hitting with them to the punch.

I've never had very good luck with metal from horrible freight being a good alloy, or plastic from horrible freight staying in one piece. The metal is always really soft and the plastic is always really brittle and badly molded.

On the other hand, I love this pump for filling transfer cases (great for ATF but not gear lube.) Bought one and it was by far the best tool I had during the swap last night. I'll probably buy their barrel pump for filling diffs too, it's pretty hard to screw up a barrel pump and their price beats everyone else's by like 50%.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I've loved every tool I have ever purchased from Harbor Freight. I love breaking tools.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

As much as I love HF...

The junk part was for carmelo ;)

I don't really care if the punches are low quailty, I just need something to stamp the bearing caps and stuff for taking apart the axles and such.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Are 14b and 60 bearing caps not already stamped? I've never seen a 30 cap that wasn't pre-stamped for me.

From what I've seen it depends on the year and what it came out of. My rear D60 had no markings on one side, the other did.
I always add my own stamp anyway. Either dots or "R, L" on both the part coming of and its location.

X2 IIRC one axle has some stamps and the other is blank.

I perfer my own L & R stamps too, its quick and easy to figure out.

I actually own the HF set of xfer punches and have had such great luck with them Colin got a set too.

Both my D60 and D70 have stamped bearing caps and matching marks on the housing. IIRC, the 70 is marked with a L & R and the 60 has one dot and 2 dots.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

My 30s and the 35 I tore apart for spare parts have always had letters stamped - usually F or R on both caps. They stamp it vertically on one cap and horizontally on the other.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I just got home and put the punches out in my shop. I quickly looked at the 14b since theres no cover on it and it doesnt have any/good markings. The cover is still on the 60 but I think that one has some dots.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

My brother finally stopped messing with my torrents. It's still going to take 2 weeks to download alldata. I also have about $4000 worth of machine shop instructional videos. Hey Mark, think I can just watch a bunch of dvds and pretend i'm an educated machinist?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I pulled my 60 in the snow Monday a few weeks ago... I was the only customer in the yard. Wasn't like I was going to get anything done on the roof.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I seem to come across 'T' more than anything...strange.

When I did the gears in my 60 I put the caps on backwards and the carrier would almost not turn. Funny how these things matter.
