Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Awesome comic.

I thought Rossy & Ken might still have a 231 hanging around f/s...was I wrong?

Mark has two, one from a '99 auto, and one from a '98 manual with AA SYE installed.
How much does he want to pay? (please don't give him my number, I'm just curious)

After 185 incorrect miles, the evap system still is showning "Not Ready" on my scanner. The htd o2 sensor just went off. So much for under 100 miles.

There is a very nice, clean, dark green D110 down the street from me, ARB bullbar, lights, black steelies and all terrains, roof rack. I keep seeing it, and I want it so bad.

I have experience with an older model (bearing is different is all) of the protools "racer model" tubing notcher.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Travis, it sounds to me like Ken just volunteered to fix yo jeep.
if he can get it to me... :moon:

(so yes, assuming I'm around and he drives it down. I don't have time to drive up there right now.)

EDIT: Everyone who asked about stuff - the Maxstar 200 series should be going for around 1/4 to 1/3 MSRP, which is 2500 to 4k. So offer 625 to 1300 or so and you'd probably get one.

I have no info on the Bridgeport or other stuff yet.

Not sure how much he wants to pay...probably as least as possible. Last customer I remember talking about getting one from a junkyard said he paid $100 and that was the going rate.

How many times did you turn on/off the Jeep after clearing it? I've heard from some it's based on mileage, and others it's how many on/off cycles before the computer is ready.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Damnit Travis that's like the first test to do.

Wait, correction, first test is grab a big blunt object and smack the starter a couple times.

tried both when the old starter was still in it...

Travis, I put my die hard gold on a tender last week. any time you need to borrow it just lmk

cool beanz. thank youuu :)

Travis, you HAVE to get that jeep running. Isn't it the official "pulls everyone in NAC out" jeep for the snow run?

I'd bet on something screwy with the ignition switch or the battery wiring.

It's the official "pulls everyone in NAC out" jeep for non-body-damage-likely areas :) Sooo, Johnnys is questionable for it. At best.

This is not the first as it can damage the started so I hear. Start with wiring/solenoid before you start wailing the starter with a heavy object.

If it hasn't been mentioned check the voltage at the started with the key on. It should be atleast 11.5v and atleast 10.5 while cranking IIRC. If that's not case your problem would lie elsewhere.

hmm. alright, I guess I'll try that stuff. Thank you :)

cool. Thanks for the offer Ken! I doubt I'd have the time to get it down to you, and plus I know you're more than busy enough with your own crap going on. I'll get it figured out eventually, just frustrating at times.

That sure buys a lot of flap wheels.
IMO, don't waste your money man. You're going to be doing one cage not a shop production. I did all mine with either a cut off, grinding, or flap wheel. Did it take twice as long? Sure, but I still had near perfect notches.

Oh I know you had near perfect notches... but I'm not even close to as patient as you. I'm paranoid that I'd be saying "oh I'm sure that'll be tight enough" way more often than I should :eye:

I'm sure you're right though... I'm probably better off spending that money elsewhere. Any idea what tubing is going for lately? I suppose I could just buy however much DOM with that $250 and store it for the rest of the winter.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i cut my tube with an angle grinder and fill in the gaps with boogers

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

well ok. If people think that's alright then I'm all for it :gee:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I agree on the tubing notching stuff... unless you're doing super complex stuff like cuts in the middle of a bend. Even so, hand grind it. I was getting pretty decent toward the end of my frame I built for the 4cyl air compressor thingus.
