THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

A buddy of mine ran them on a ZJ for awhile and thought they did pretty good on anything with pavement (be it snow covered or not), offroad not so hot. They did wear quick though.

yeah i bought them for the road. The only time ill used them in the mud is probably pulling some duumbass out. i hate running bias boggers on the tar.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Dumb to reuse a mechanical locknut, flange or not.

Not saying I would on my MJ, because I don't plan on removing suspension links constantly, but why did I never have a problem on my XJ?

Redid the suspension at least a couple times and never had a problem reusing the hardware.

FSM doesn't even state replacing it.

Probably because the hardware was corroded and that aiding in anti-loosening.
I wouldn't reuse any locking hardware on any suspension components. Its too cheap to risk it coming off. When I redid the shackles in my old truck I replaced the flange nuts, when I redid the joints in the '99 I replaced the locknuts, every time a locknut comes off my XJ it gets replaced with a new one. The $<0.30 isn't worth an issue.

Does it happen all the time? Does the dealer probably do it? Yes. Doesn't mean it is correct or I would do it if I had the choice, IMO.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I have never had a nylock nut back off, no matter how many times its has been removed.

At school, I did a club called Minibaja, sponsored by SAE. Due to the rules, we had to use either nylocks, or safety wire on ALL bolts. We safety wired only a few things, that was a pain in the ass.

This is a small buggy that has the engine hardmounted to the frame, and is raced hard offroad over very rough terrain. (we went testing one day before we had the seat padding in, everyone went home with very sore kidneys).

The car is taken apart constantly, and we never replace any of the nuts, and they don't fall off.

For the hell of it, here is a picture of me breaking the car

The reason for the floats are because of this.

I don't worry about it quite as much, between the rust and the fact that I'm under there messing with it all the time and check before and after every trail run, there is almost no chance one will work its way off - the LCAs, that is. The UCA ones bug me, I keep an even closer eye on them. I really should just drill the bushing sleeves out to 1/2" and use real bolts.

We were talking about lock nuts, not Nylocks. That said, I've never had a reused Nylock walk off either.

Way cooler than Super Mileage Vehicle.

Mark, looks like it is not skydriving approved

It's skydriving approved, just seems to have a hard time with the return to Earth.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

found a narrowed hp44 to waggy length on pirate, might be time to switch over

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

wow, that is like a perfect example of tires and rims you never want to use on any axle, nevermind the front

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

It might work well in mud...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

NDTs = nondirectional travel.

you will slip and slide everywhere, probably not even in the direction the tires are pointing, when you use those.

And they are multi section rims that you have to use tubes with...

Oh, and it needs a dump bed. Most useful feature for any show truck to have, hands down.
