I think I am in love and need to make some phone calls.. I think I need to make some phone calls.
Are you trying to buy a CTD or a Jeep or a Firebird?

Doesn't look too bad to me - do the doors all line up still? Is the inner fender crumpled where the outer fender bolts on along the front edge? That frame horn looks about like mine did, maybe a little worse, some time with a carpenter's hammer and some pliers and a prybar fixed it up well enough that most people guess wrong and say the driver side got screwed up if I ask them.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

nice. I saw Fear factory with Children of Bodom at the Palladium a few years ago. They're good live. I like watching the the dude with the turn tables in edgecrusher
i saw fear factory in 1997 at locobazooka at greenhill park. i wish i've seen children of bodom.

Well. I was shopping for a firebird a while back and still check into them from time to time. I was planning and still want to buy a CTD but they are pricey and I realize that the one major goal I set for myself when I was planning on building my rig was that I didn't want it to be a trail only rig so I might as well FIRI and drive to trails (albeit very slowly).

So I was actually shopping for Jeeps but that firebird came up in the Jeep search and I liked it. I have actually been looking into ZJs and TJs as well as XJs and MJs. Anyone know whether the V8s in the ZJs were problematic at all? Very tempting to take a look at this. http://southcoast.craigslist.org/cto/1771798572.html Just got an email back from the guy and it's got an 8 so I don't know much about them.

you have a serious case of vehicle ADHD.

Grand Cherokees, minus the first that used the AW4, have always had transmission issues...I wouldn't buy one for that reason as nearly all of them need to be rebuilt/replaced sooner than later.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yes I do have issues. I think I am working through my issues right now. I am torn between what I know I should get (an XJ) but the extra luxuries of a ZJ would be nice. And the TJ would just be fun. Though I do like a car now that I have been driving one, they handle well... Yup, issues. I think I am finally getting close to being convinced with a Jeep for a DD. Now I just have to figure out which one.

So who wants to start a 24 hours of lemons team? I think I just scored a running suzuki swift for $100

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I think he's trying to keep it stock-looking, so I would vote against the real front bumper. Frame stiffeners, definitely.

Kyle... where'd you find your garage for rent? I really want to rent a bay somewhere but can't find anything other than goofy high prices in Worcester, at least on CL.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Mark my 00' XJ had worse damage on that same side and I fixed it. I'll PM you on the lights.

You could start a seperate thread with all the vehicles that Scott wants.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

:roflmao: There aren't actually THAT many that I realistically want but my problem is I cant decide which one I actually want to spend the $$ on and buy. Pretty much one or two vehicles from each category. Ram CTD, trans am, Jeeps (XJ, MJ, TJ, etc). There are a few others I have mentioned but I got over those ones quick.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I honestly don't like the first one you posted that much, I'm just plain not into muscle cars. The second one... well, we've been over this, I'd kill for it.

Pretty much every vehicle I've ever wanted has been made by Kaiser, AMC, Jeep, or Chrysler Jeep at some point or another. M35A2/3? Kaiser and AMC. M715? AMC or Jeep, I forget which. MJ and XJ? AMC, Jeep, Chrysler. The rest can go to hell, I'll stick with the ones that will last forever and can be fixed by someone in any town, with parts available anywhere...

EDIT: looks like I finally found something that's cheaper on RockAuto than AllJeep, d30 unit bearings. RockAuto has Timkens for $94, AllJeep has D/S for $145

I like almost all European cars when it comes to cars. But if I am buying something to be used as a "truck" it will be American. Dodge CTD for a diesel but Ford would get my money for a gasser truck. GM products alway leave me unsatisfied, not to mention their hellish turning radius.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

None... they just aren't as interesting to me. They are cool and all, I just don't really feel the need to go THAT fast. I prefer more utilitarian, go-anywhere do-anything vehicles.

EDIT: oh yeah, picked up the metal for my MJ trailer hitch this morning before work. Ended up with 6 feet of 7"x1/4" plate and 6 feet of 3x3x1/4" square tube, plus a 2" receiver from Harbor Freight. I've got some ideas, we'll see how it comes together. I definitely need recovery points if I'm going to be doing anything fun with this beast :roflmao:
