THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Thanks a ton. Between this and the free engine, I owe you... let me know if you ever need anything or get stuck in a bind.

EDIT: also, my health insurance company hates my usage of an angle grinder on the evening of december 31st, 2009 and its results. Looks like I need to remain healthy for most of the rest of the year.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

 i failed my CDL permit

i nailed pretty much every truck related question, but those stupid random wierd general knowledge questions kept tripping me up. i HATE when the question reads something like "what would you most probably do" or "which one would be best" as soon as i second guess myself, im pretty much screwed. hungover tests always kicked ass cause i would never have a second thought or question my reasoning, id just say boom that one whatever and not care.

Ill go back tomorrow or thursday and take it again. i know what to expect now so it should be no biggie at all. i aced my air brakes endorsement, i just need to pay another $30 and take the general knowledge test again.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

^^^ Ross, that kinda sucks but at least you know what to expect next time.

Just got a random call from Harbor Fright, they wanted to know if the replacement blade shield I ordered for my metal cutting bandsaw was working out well. I don't own such a product... they mailed me random stuff I didn't order a while ago which I brought to the store. I think their warranty claim database got fouled up, I wonder what they'll call me about / send me next?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So I just got home and it seems to be bright... I feel like I should still be at work right now.

On that note, cornhole and beers tomorrow after work. And this week SHOULDN'T be canceled due to meetings.. knock on wood.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I should put a ton of weight in the back of it and then dump some clutch.

And wait for the :explosion:

i think its entirely possible

put it all as far back as possible. lower the air pressure in the back tires to about 10 psi

find a little uphill section with a "bump" chillin there. and play with it til you find a way to get the tarz up

then take video of this, and add the soundclip to one of yo mopars and sync em together and post it on youtube as "v8 XXXXing comanche doin sick wheelies"

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

^^^ I suggest adding a wheelie bar made out of poop pipe or EMT so all the ricers know you're a serious player

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i like sam's idea like 83 times better.

i even have thousand pounds worth of patio blocks that would make perfect ballast.

colin driveway is even uphill!!! we could easily add a "bump"!!!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i hate machining stainless steel! its such a PITA. and making pipe threads, that too. i had to put a 1/4" NPT thread into this stainless part this afternoon at work, with a dull tap. lo and behold, i get 80% of the way in (which took over 45 minutes of swearing at it since i could maybe get an 1/8 a turn at a time), and SNAP.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

anyone here have experience with ally usa shafts? i know there not the greatest but they may be my only option for 60 stubs

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Kyle, how'd you get that back out? Hope it was doable... also what size tap, I may have one here that I haven't even used yet if it's a fairly normal SAE size.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

it didnt get out, that shit is IN there. it's now an expensive paperweight for a grad student's office. not my part and it was at my work study so i don't really care, getting paid by the hour! :D my bet is that the guy probably didn't even need to design the thing out of stainless, just to look shiny or something (unless they had magnetic or environmental / chemical concerns). it seems like a pressure vessel cap

and my boss didn't want to use fire to get it out, first thing i suggested was the oxy / acetylene torch in the back

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Not even a tap removal tool? Also that looks like there might be enough sticking up that you could weld a nut to it. Or the next poor soul who has to try and work on that part :D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

nope it's probably going to get scrapped. i dont think you understand how much a PITA it is working with stainless, and how hard pipe taps are. can't mill or drill it since it'll wreck the mills or drills. it took a good chunk of my body weight to even get the tap moving 1/8 turn fully bathing in lube on a 10" wrench (maybe around 100+ foot pounds to get it moving) so a tap extractor would shear in half as well. my guess is even getting the tap moving took like 80% + of the fracture stress of the HSS tap, and it fatigued and snapped

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah, I'm mostly used to normal SAE thread stuff... didn't even notice it was an NPT pipe thread tap in your original post. I try to stay away from stainless whenever possible.

id take them over yukon's. Whys that the only option? If youre looking for a budget 35 spl stub, how about a Ten Factory or something?

im lookn at 10 factory now, ill prob go with them, i hope the bearings and kingpins on theis axle are in good enough shape to reuse cause it cover the cost of the shafts
