You might want to call them and chat with Lance. He's really good and helped me out picking my setup. I've got the PK1652 pump kit. My bet is he'd have you go with a larger ram with that pump. Like this: http://www.pscmotorsports.com/sc2202k-2-x-8-cylinder-assist-steering-cylinder-kit-p-127.htmlI'm thinking this...
$399
http://www.pscmotorsports.com/pk1652-9506-40-jeep-high-volume-pump-kit-p-833.html
And this...
$172

Figure out hoses/fittings once I mock it up.
I might try to get away with a stock pump at first (drill out the pressure fitting).
Which is why I plan on keeping my engine running. *knock on wood*its prob the biggest reason im goin with assist
I think you'd want to cut off the mounting end on the end of that ram and rotate it 90 degrees unless you want to aim the fittings at the rocks.how about surplus center style? :dunno:
(1) 1.5x8x.75 ram
https://www.surpluscenter.com/item.asp?UID=2009111720121025&item=9-4410-08&catname=hydraulic
(2) hydro lines 1/4 npt x 36"
https://www.surpluscenter.com/item.asp?UID=2009111720121025&catname=hydraulic&qty=1&item=916-1436
(2) 3/8 to 1/4 npt adapters
https://www.surpluscenter.com/item.asp?UID=2009111720121025&catname=hydraulic&qty=1&item=9-1938
(4) swivel fittings
https://www.surpluscenter.com/item.asp?UID=2009111720121025&catname=hydraulic&qty=1&item=9-1922
EDIT: total of about $115 plus shipping, and you get the lines etc with. only down fall is no mounting tabs/heims etc. but tabs are easily made, and you can work with the ends that are on that ram, i'm sure...

Other than that I don't see any issues with one over the other, for assist.
I'm pretty sure they manufacture them in house...?
:dunno:
It is quite nice.I'm gonna have a Bill moment here, but after having held his PSC stuff in my hands, there is no WAY I'd go with something cheaper. Their stuff is primo.
That's the impression I was under for the rams anyway.I'm pretty sure they manufacture them in house...?
:dunno:
Yeah. Like I said for assist, I don't see an issue. I'm still on the fence if I'd want to piece together a full hydro setup like that to save a little bit of cash.that's what most people do, IIRC
Good. As it should be.However, the Surplus Center stuff IS Made in USA. :dunno: :dunno: :dunno:
Mine doesn't... I have other things I need to spend $115 on, and see no reason to consider it when my stock steering (alright, stock aside from the V8 ZJ tie rod) operates perfectly. I've got enough plans up in the air right now without adding stuff that I don't need.
I'm only even considering it because my XJ needs nothing to continue wheelin.
That was my thought process.
I wanna do Otters this year so bad.
Edit: shit. she said she doesn't think anything short of an engagement ring would make her as happy as jeep parts make me :confused1
yuh oh!
i'm buying an aussie locker later today... who wants to help install it next week?![]()
So make her an engagement ring... cheaper, and IMO making something always means more than buying it.
If you need help, I'm pretty sure I know people who can smelt precious metals.
UGHHH
a while back i was in a group with andy Augenbaugh, a writer for low range magazine. we were on rock creek. and there was otters just chilling there. andy explains that the only rig he ever saw successfully make it was a rearsteer bronco on 42's and even he had a hard time. i called bullshit. and took my rig down it without damage or so much slipping a tire.
i felt like a hero and he had some good shots of me.
then low range shut down
