EDIT: Anthony, even made from the same wire i.e. cut down? That confuses me, I'll have to think about it a bit more before it makes sense to me.

yup.

i couldn't remember, so i double checked my text book. there was a lot more to the equation, but it all cancels out if the only thing changing is # of coils.

or you could cut down the existing springs and add a couple of stock insolaters too

i just tested my educational version of pro e that i have from when i was in school. still works. so does my copy of ansys. too bad i know how to use abaqus and hypermesh better than ansys :-\
