THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Eh, I wouldn't bother. Take the same money and buy some 40" used(or new haha) something or others that'll last alot longer, and unless your competing, work just as well. Or certainly well enough.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

1 week and 780$ later I have 2 full stacks of wheels/tires in the back yard. I would say it's been a good week :)

And now I get to clearance for some bigger tires, I think tomorrow might involve re-cutting the fenders and re-installing the lawn edging.

I love garage. I walked into it after taking the tires out of the vehicle and was greeted with a wall of warm.

I really need to get off my ass this summer and finish the wireing in my garage so we can insulate and heat it for next winter. It is nice to atleast have 4 walls and a roof blocking the wind.

Ken, you don't need the side bearing puller unless you arn't making setup bearings out of old ones (or in Colin's case, new ones), save the $300.

You'll need:
- Patience
- A good micrometer (if you have to buy one, get Starrett or Mitutoyo)
- A drop dial indicator, mag base, dovetails and swivels (again, if you have to buy one, get Starrett or Mitutoyo)
- 3lb and/or 5lb deadblow
- 0-30ish in-lb torque wrench (beam style or fancy max load)
- 0-250ish ft-lb torque wrench
- Die grinder or similar to make setup bearings
- Long pry bar
- Patience

What's fancy max load? I hear you want one with a dial on it. Looks like I have most of the tools I would need and the ones I don't I wouldn't mind buying. Know a good place to buy the micrometer and dial indicator(and accessories)? Also do you think a micrometer is really necessary or could a good pair of digital calipers get the job done? I will need this stuff for when I rebuild my TH400.

I hope in his reaming he tells me what a max load torque wrench is then. I googled it but didn't find one. My guess is i'm being dumb. I also do wanna know what the downfall of digital vernier calipers are. I like the idea that I can use them for internal and external measurements as well as use them at work. Non digital just don't make sense for measuring things on a vehicle. I'd mostly use them to measure rotors but my guess is I would use them in alot of situations. It's convenient to be able to just hold them onto something as square as possible and know you're getting more than accurate enough measurement(for what I will be using them 90%).

It's not worth the convenience if it sacrifices accuracy though. So I just wanted to know if he didn't like them because they were less accurate or because he just doesn't see the need when "analog" ones work fine.

Bill is just Bill. That's what you'll determine in the end..."umm. ok dude, whatever.."
