:gonnablow hahahahahahaha go figure. I've seen like 3-4 sets sell now that I've got the gears ready to go in. I am STRONGLY considering buying the tools to do the install for like $160 on here instead of paying the $175 Wzoreks apparently charges, it seems like a very useful skill to learn. And if I fail, well, I guess I'll buy a set off craigslist/classifieds :dunno:

Yeah, so before I go an build a HP44 is anyone planning on upgrading in the next few months and selling a shortened HP44? Just so I don't do this to myself :laugh3:

OK, my plans have changed to a shortened hp44, I will buy the parts and then you can buy the fifteen perfectly good ones that show up on classifieds/craigslist/ebay/side of the street for free in the ten minutes after I finish mine...

Looks like I'm going to Sam's tomorrow, gotta pick up d30 shafts (for spares, and because I want a set around to drive on in case I am an idiot and screw up my U-joint change), a windshield, maybe a turbo out of a large diesel truck if they have one, and other misc crap... anyone up for junkyarding in the snow and bitter cold?

Looks like I'm going to Sam's tomorrow, gotta pick up d30 shafts (for spares, and because I want a set around to drive on in case I am an idiot and screw up my U-joint change), a windshield, maybe a turbo out of a large diesel truck if they have one, and other misc crap... anyone up for junkyarding in the snow and bitter cold?

I would go if they had any mid 80s wagoneers.

I need another set of spare shafts.

EDIT: Jon - me, Jack (the kid with the MJ), and Chris (another gearhead you guys completely don't know) are building a hovercraft, or trying to. Should be interesting

I might, I might not - hopefully. My transmission has seemingly decided it wants to mostly work again. Anyone know if there are many vehicles with turbos at Everett's this week, actually? I like their prices a lot more than Sam's.

EDIT: Jon - yeah, I think the project will get canceled if we can't find a junkyard one.

what sort of rpm are you gonna be running that turbo at? its gonna need some sort of oiling system and if its at the junkyard id be careful and look at it real good so you dont end up with impeller parts all in your skirt

:dunno: I'm just the procurement and frame construction specialist for this one, Jack and Chris are doing the skirt and the drivetrain stuff

I'll definitely make sure to see if it's in good shape before buying it, I don't really like buying worthless junk with no returns allowed.

I saw the first ep but I haven't remembered to watch since then. I have already been following their website for a while now so I know most of their stuff, though I like seeing the build process and such so the show is cool.

Good, hurry up and get to work. At least buy the parts so axles can start showing up on here. I want to be wheeling before the summer so the sooner the better :laugh:

Though as much as I WANT to buy one pre-built for me, I kindof want to build it myself, I feel like it would be a good project. I was talking to my mother last night about it (for some reason she started talking to me about Jeep stuff and saying she didn't think my Jeep was safe). I'm fairly certain she expects my Jeep to fall apart, explode, and careen into a frozen lake the next time I drive it. And when i said I would be building an axle I would have to guess she added "and kill a schoolbus of small children" to that list by the look on her face when I explained the process for shortening an axle

Meh...I'd just wait. You need them soon for something? It's cold as hell today. My truck said 12* outside and it usually measures about 4* warmer than it really is.

thats why im just waking up, decided it be best to sleep in today, at some point i may go outside and look at the 60 to figure out what hub nut socket to order other then that there are no plans to spend money in the next few weeks

I do too. That would be an awesome job.

I am thinking of applying to a local car manufacturer startup, trying to get night/weekend hours so I can keep my dayjob. Then if the startup gains some traction/job security I can move over there full time... and if it fails and I lose my job I will still have another job to stay on with.

Then again all that is depending on whether or not I get the job. Probably not all that likely that I would get it. That and if I pick up night/wkend hours it means no more time to work on the Jeep for myself. Maybe work just nights/saturdays and leave the Jeep for Sundays? idk... I don't really wnat to work more hours, but I really would love to work with cars.
