THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Whatever you do avoid Autozone brakes like the plague. I installed a set on my old Maxima, and 7 months later, bought my first Cherokee...so, the Maxima sat for 3 1/2 weeks before I sold it, and I had moved it 2 or 3 times at most. Well, when it started moving, the rear brakes were grinding, so I brought the whole thing down to a garage to ask them to turn them, they wouldn't even touch them as they were so badly corroded. I went to go buy another set, and remembered it wasn't even a year so I figured I'd try my warranty at Autozone. Well, I went to 3 different stores before one finally accepted them. Got yelled at by a manager at the first saying they must have been taken from a junkyard because in his 30 years experience he had never seen them so bad. I told him me neither, and that they were obviously defective and/or poor quality parts. All I used on them was the brake cleaner spray when I first bought them, and they looked like they were found in the Titanic in less than a year! It was such a bad situation that I vowed to never buy them again unless they were last resort.

Cliff notes - Autozone rotors & customer service sucks.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Where from? My HP D30 4.10s with master kit, gears, and carrier cost me $256 shipped from national drivetrain on here. Maybe you're looking at a better brand of gears than Motive, which I think should be fine for me.
That also include 4.88's for my 8.25. All nitro gear, and from justdifferentials.com

Call around, don't shop online. Call other NAXJA vendors.
For two gearsets and a single master install you should be well under $630 shipped.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I would just drive it for a few weeks before you think of doing anything. Moving the subframe will change your caster at the same time. Not something I would want to do unless I was in front of an alignment machine. It's perfectly possible to do an alignment at home but very time consuming.

Isn't your VW lowered a little as well? That would throw the camber off a little. Companies make alignment kits to help make it alot easier to have your car aligned.

yes, but the camber wasn't off before i had an oopsies.

That's what I thought. $630 is rediculous and it why I can't order them until April when I sell my car. Who's good to call and has NAXJA discounts?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I trust ACDelco and Raybestos - ACDelco because they're an OEM provider which means they must have done something right, and Raybestos because I have used their parts before and they seem to be good quality.
+1 agreed

In the last two weeks, NAPA has given me a front tranny seal and a pan gasket+filter set for completely the wrong transmission and AAP has given me completely the wrong rear tranny seal. Luckily I didn't have mine pulled out yet!

Call me for that crap! I'll get it right and many of our gaskets are Fel-Pro or OE!!

Agreed. I haven't posted up my rant about them two weekends ago as I haven't finished talking to their complaints dept, but I sure as hell won't ever buy ANYTHING there from any store other than my locals (who help me out any time they can) and even then only emergency stuff now.

EDIT: I've told Colin about it, and Skreed was there for it. Other than that, I am not going to vent until they don't do anything about it.

Makes it a bit better... but even so I'd suspect more like 500 would be reasonable. Did you do the order on the site or through the guys on here? I called them up and ordered, I'm not sure how to apply the NAXJA discount (if any) on their site. AFAIK, justdifferentials.com = National Drivetrain on here.

I would have, but I wasn't sure my transmission would make it to Crown and back, and every time I've gone I was planning on putting the transmission in a few hours later so I couldn't wait for shipping :roflmao: of course that still hasn't happened.

I've been beating on it pretty hard since then as the transmission is nearly ready to go in and I really don't care anymore, but it hasn't failed me (again) yet. Heck my default response to it starting to slip now is MOAR GO PEDAL and somehow it still works.

Out of curiosity though, how much for a rear+front seal for a 4x4 aw4? The ones riding on the torque converter neck and the transfer case input gear/shaft. After I take my old transmission out I'm going to pick up a rebuild kit from ebay (or Crown if you stock that) and I may well need a new input/output seal set.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I can ship to MA if you can't make it...will shoot you a pm.

I'm waiting for another day in the 50's like last weekend! I have some leaf springs & crap to put on my XJ.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

<- this guy

Was too rushed getting out the door this morning, so all I brought was the windshield tools and I think a basic socket set... not sure.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

this guy ain't gonna make it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I don't think I can make it anymore, first thing this morning to help out around the house after work so I didn't even bother bringing a change of clothes or tools with me.. so if I do end up going I will have to stop by walmart and pick up some cheap Jeans/sweatshirt or something.

And does anyone know a good time to call Baystate offroad? I called around 12:30 yesterday and got no answer (no call back either). Maybe I caught everyone when they were out for lunch or something :dunno: I just didn't know if anyone has found that there are better/worse times to call them.

YES! I hate PETA (except if you mean people for the eating of tasty animals). I hope this guy just tells PETA to shove it and doesn't bow under pressure.

Of note: The international eat an animal for PETA day is on my B-day, I was proud when I found that one out :D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread
