THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Agreed, luckily Home Depot/Husky was slightly better... they took a ratchet out of a new 100pc set and traded it for my screwed up ratchet out of my 100pc set. I haven't had to return any of my Kobalt tools yet (I think I only have a 3/8 to 1/4 reducer anyways) but they gave me the same stupid story about having to talk to Husky till I noted that the package said I could get it replaced at Home Depot, at which point they called a supervisor who verified this. GearWrenches are awesome, I have an 8mm, a 5/16, a 9/16, and a 15mm, the 5/16 should be required XJ toolbox equipment and the 15mm is great for torque converter bolts.

I haven't tried any husky tools yet. Most of my stuff is craftsman. Lowes carries alot eastwing tools which I LOVE. I love eastwing hammers. Kind of expensive but I know they'll last longer than me so I figured maybe the carry some quality stuff.

All the gearwrench stuff I've used from other people's tools has seemed good and I like the fact that I can exchange them at any local sears(as long as they have it).

I brake tools constantly. If they break and it's not easy to exchange I throw them away.

Anthony, DON'T go to town fair tire.

I don't know if it is just the one here on the cape, or what, but out of the 6 times I've had cars aligned there, they have all been in for a recheck to fix the crappy job they have done, and still never got aligned properly.

My old ford taurus station wagon that we had tracked perfectly fine before we put new tires and had them align it. got it back and you had to hold it from steering to the left off the highway. Took it back and said they couldn't align it, it needed this whole special kit because there was no way to adjust it on the car. The thing was IT DROVE FINE BEFORE IT WENT IN.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i've had good luck with TFT in the past... after all those things, remind me why i want to go there again? and like i said, it's just the camber in the back that's off...

Agreed. I hate husky ratchets but I have never broken anything else.

I went to the Sears in Auburn and they claimed they could not exchange my 15mm gearwrench and that I had to talk to gearwrench. :dunno: I think it is a standard "get rid of the annoying customer" tactic since they do the same thing for you at Lowes and tried to do it to me at Home Depot.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

my hangover meal consists of a double cheeseburger and ranch snackwrap from mcdonalds and a 32oz gatorade.. works like a charm

i'll see what kinda guys are working there, but i have even ended up in the bay there poking around before and they haven't said anything... but, i've never been to the one i'm going to go to today. so we'll see.

I really just want them to tell me if anything is bent, if so, what it is, and if not, then i want them to align it.

The front is like any other car. The rear you need a special wrench to adjust it. It's just a flat wrench, we have it since it's such a common car. The alignment still takes just a few minutes in the rear. If it was one of the older older ones it's a little harder. You need a little crowfoot like tool to adjust the starwheel, again if you're not retarded it's still quick.

after all those things, remind me why i want to go there again? and like i said, it's just the camber in the back that's off...

If your car has cams, eccentrics or anything except for shims basically I'll do your alignment. I'll just run it by the manager that will be on on sunday. If it will cost you anything I'm sure he'll hook you up with my 50% atleast. If you want me to check machine to see what needs to be done I could do that too before you come down here. It usually tells me what tools(if anything special) are needed and where the adjustments are. I don't have work until friday but if you're really curious I'll stop by sooner and I'll just drop off some tools and check it out.

I'm no expert in suspension and I'm not even that experienced in alignments but it's not rocket science either. I haven't messed up one alignment yet. I'm a ways away from you but if you're interested you can hang out with me under your car while it's getting aligned. If you're interested just let me know and I'll talk to my manager.

Supposedly you can have a gearwrench wrench exchanged at sears regardless of where you bought it according to their website as long as they have it individually.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

carmelo, thanks. i'll see what the products of today are and i'll get back to you. i'm pretty darn sure it's not shims. like... 95% sure. if i end up waiting that long to do it, you've got it... i just don't want to screw up my tires by driving too far on a bad alignment... they're only like 5k old.

Alright, like I said just an offer. I wouldn't have made any money on it or anything I just don't trust anyone with any of my cars in any shop. Especially a corporate garage chain. Even when my girlfriend had her oil changed I would try to get her to go to sears and have Adam do it.

Anthony, for your viewing pleasure.

I believe this is your setup?
If that is in fact what you have, your toe must be adjust by loosening the four bolts to the trailing arm mounting bracket and pushed left/right and then tightened to where it needs to be.

Edit: obviously the pic is of how to adjust camber..
