THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i want to work on my jeep.

btw... does anyone need a sub/amp combo? i have one that i'll let go cheap.
Dont need one but I suppose it depends what size/power/asking price is. I would just want something small to throw in the back of my car...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

its seems mild enough out and i have this strange urge to go and do some actual work on the 60 and cut out the coil buckets and lay out the LCA brackets.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

whatcha got? i need a new amp.
i'll double check when i get home... pretty sure it's a single 12" mtx in bandpass box with a 300W rms amp... but i need to double check specs and models... i'll get back to you guys.

cheap = i don't need it, what is it worth to you?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i'm remoting into a 16 node cluster each with 4 processors and 32GB ram per node too. some simulations just need more power than others. the current FEA model i'm running has a little more than 7 million degrees of freedom. my desktop isn't gonna crunch those numbers.
holy crap. Well, I'm glad someone finds a use for all this processing power we keep building, I've been wondering if it actually matters just how fast we make a processor compute things recently.

What are the specs on that cluster? I'm kinda curious what processors are in it, right now we're working on the next-gen Itanium... can't tell you many specs till it's released, but it's nice and fast. Google for Tukwila and you'll find more info than I probably know.

hey... and i think i finally have my model generating the right results. it was behaving funny. i think it was because i mixed my units. i had the material properties and stuff in mKs and i built the geometry in mmKs. woopsies :gee:
You should work for NASA or ESA, I hear they did that with one of their Mars probes :gee: They ended up driving it straight into the planet at full throttle or something.

Yeah I hate unit screwups.

Man, I hate when I drive into planets at full throttle!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

1st comment: yeah we use all the power we can get. i don't think we have itaniums in it... i know we do have them in some other machines around the base though. i'll look into it.

2nd comment: i've heard about NASA doing that. but their mix up was worse. they mixed mKs and ips. it was something to do with the amount of fuel it needed and how fast it had to burn it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah, I just googled it, apparently it was the mars climate orbiter. They mixed metric/english like you said and ended up throwing way too much fuel into the thing, made it go too fast, it went through the atmosphere instead of going into orbit, overheated, lost propulsion, and is likely now orbiting the sun.

oops.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

if i worked for NASA, id get fired for driving around mars landers and boucing 'em of the rev limiter and goin off little jumps.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

yay defense spending!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

theyd be like "ross, why do you try to go 4wheeling and jump every type of vehicle we build?"

my response "i was just testing it"

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

my friend just came in here and told me he overclocked his droid.

wtf that is awesome. from 550 to 600mhz

That's sweet. Got insurance? :D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

careful with that, if you overclock droids too much you might end up needing to buy a new motivator unit.

:geek:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm starting to think I might try and install andriod on my windows mobile phone. Either that or I will cook up a custom ROM.

Or I will just leave it like it is... but that's boring

Not to mention that I do have insurance so at most it will cost me $50 to replace anything I brick.

I have been through 3 phones in 2 years, but never bricked one yet. One I lost (it was actually a sad day, I liked that first one). I got that one replaced about this time last year, cost me $50. Then the next one I had sucked. Alot. So I just got them to replace that one for me (for free) with the newer model. So far this one is very nice. No complaints yet.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I liked my motorola c139, that thing was indestructible. You couldn't even read the keypad by the time I retired it, but it still worked perfectly, the only reason I stopped using it was because I switched providers. My Nokia 6103 sucked horribly, it was a nice phone but very delicate, and small delicate things don't do well around me...

I've already said how much abuse the blackberry 7105t will take, and I'm trying to be nice to my 8820.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah, My old Sanyo SCP7300 with sprint was my indestructible phone. I am considering adding it to my cell plan as my beater phone (aka junkyard, wheeling, etc) but at the same time I like having my all out phone with me so I have web browser in case I need to find a local bar or something :D  The 7300 was literally thrown (and not "weak throw" tossed.. i mean drunken dare thrown) into my dorm room's brick wall a number of times and the most that ever happened to it was the battery fell off. I love that thing. It's somewhere in a desk drawer I think unless my buddy took it and lost it when his phone broke. :dunno:

Plus I haven't broken a phone yet no matter what i do with it... so I won't add the beater phone until I break the nice one at least once. Once I break one I will pay my $50 replacement fee and start being careful.

holy moly, what is that a model of?
