THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

weeeeeeelder! just throw weld on it until it stops leaking :D

I wish it were that simple. It's coming from the manifold gasket towards the front. Last time it was the back. I just replaced the gasket in June. Time for another one.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

JB-weld... duct tape... bailing wire?

sucks man, I hate dealing with exhaust. Currently my muffler's inlet pipe is completely disconnected and just kinda hanging in the hole it has self-clearanced, it rattles and clanks every time I go over a bump. I'm going to let it get the crap beaten out of it and then replace it right before getting inspected... next fall...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

exhausts have to be one of the easiest things to work on

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah, it's just... I hate it. I much prefer electrical stuff and welding plate.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm bored. I want to leave work. I want to go to Junkyard. I want to find Junkyard with an all you can carry day soon. I want to find a newer truck/suv with an LQ4 engine in it (in that Junkyard, yeah, that's the hard part). I want to remove said engine and computer/harness/etc and 2-man carry it out of the JY.

hit the surface of the block with a honing stone to flatten it out. do the same with the exhaust manifold. and retorque the nuts and bolts that secure the exhaust manifold after a few heat cycles.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

An LQ4 weighs a LOT, like 500 or so from what I'm reading... I guess you could 2-man it with some tow straps and a long pole though. I can move a 4.0 around by myself, minus the intakes/accessories, but it makes me walk funny the next day and is probably a really bad idea.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

thats what she says. :sunshine:
:dunno: yep!

ken someone responded in the "xj in movies" thread with the techno jeep link
yeah, I'm just waiting for it to get posted in offtopic again, I don't think the guy realizes I'm trolling.

I might say something about "that video where the kids take an XJ out in the woods and beat on it till it stops running" next :anon:

Yeah, I it's about 500lbs but idk if that weight is with or without accessories. I would be getting it with everything. I think the 4.0 weighs in at about 500 itself so if you can 1 man that I think I can 2 man a LQ4 (with accessories). I was thinking about using tow straps and 2 poles. One pole per shoulder with the engine hanging between. The technicalities would need to be worked out, but that should limit the amount of weight on one side of the body to make it easier and I am fairly certain I can do 250-300lbs for the short walk out of the JY pretty easily.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

worrd, i should be getting a second interview with this oil company, schlumberger. the HR lady liked me and my stories of zip ties and duct tape holding jeeps together, and apparently oil wells are held together with cotter pins, fyi.

when they bring me in it'll be the third time in like 4 months that i'll get multi day free travel across the country for job interviews :patriot:

I can't one-man a whole 4.0, and I didn't manage to get it off the ground (doubt I can, though I wasn't giving it my all) - I can flip em over, drag em around, etc though. And yeah, 250-300 is not an issue especially if it's on shoulders while standing straight.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

anybody interested in a dirt cheap lincoln 175HD mig welder? brand new display model only missing the gun. normally $650+, they want $180.

I want it. Where do I go? I can come get it tomorrow... Got the regulator, clamp, etc, and just needs the gun, correct??

Well then, care to help move an engine? :D Granted finding the engine first will be the hard part since I am sure that the engines from newer trucks/SUV's are pulled before the vehicle is even released to the yard for public picking... but still, if I do find one, I plan on picking it up.
