Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

You do know that your gonna have to use square aluminum tube for the arms, because thats where its at. If your not square, your not in.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

good point

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Isn't going to happen with the price of those, you'd be looking at over 2/3rds that in just joints.

exactly :D

I don't like Johnny joints.

What would you suggest otherwise? Reason I ask is, I want to replace the JJ's on my Clayton arms and I believe they have 1" 14tpi thread on the shank, so I was wondering if there was anything else out there that would thread in and be an upgrade over the Johnny Joints. At $40 a pop I don't really mind just buying another set of them for now I guess, I mean it's not a lot of dough. But if there's an easy upgrade I might as well do that.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

See that's the thing there are to many variables. The biggest problem I see with the cheaper setups is the cheap joints. I could sell the kit without joints but you'd pretty much be forced to run the joints I built it around or sacrifice some adjustability. Do I do a mixture of poly/flex or all flex? Double adjustable arms or single?
Doesnt matter to me, just make it work with low level lefts. I.e. I want a long arm setup for 3.5"-4.5" :D
Then there comes the issue with skids. Everyone these days wants "belly pans" and that's where the cost is going to come in. Also, for those that don't have an SYE they'd be forced to get one as the cross member pushes the whole back of the drivetrain up from the stock position.
I'd pay extra for a belly pan if needed, plus I'm sick of eating through u-joints so I will have a SYE by then regardless of if I lift more or not, even though I dont have any vibs

(unless a bunch of ya'll came forward within the next week with cash in hand... haha).
I'd be willing to step forward with some cash in hand... depending how much you need... and if you think you would really WANT to make an effort at it :rof: Let me know.

I also just thought of another point. Mounting. I welded nuts to my stiffeners before I put them up. If I sold these to just some freinds, it would be easy as most of them don't have them yet and we could put the nuts in. If I sold them to XJs I couldn't work on I'd have to re-think my mounting.
So are you saying that stiffeners would need to be pre-reqirement for this 'kit' or would the kit need to include stiffeners? (Granted I know a belly pan would drive up price... and stiffeners would drive up price.. but if a LA setup came with stiffeners and a belly pan I think I would be in heaven

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Hmm, I suppose I'd be interested in that. It involves work but hey, I can manage that once in a while ;)

Thanks :)

there real easy to do, i got em a couple years ago for mine, but mine are the older style joints so they dont work so i just cleaned up and re gresed mine

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i dont know what the big deal is on johnny joints, they last a long time on Clayton kits with out issues as long as you properly maintain em, ill be using em on mine for the rear 4link

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

hmm i dunno if mine are the "old" kind...when did they change?? and how do i tell if theyre the old style?

you have new style as the grese fitting is on the joint, older stlye has a geaseable bolt, also when you put yours back together get a 45 degree grease fittng and have it on top away from the rocks
