When I got the '94, I replaced the links with some that I had pulled from the '88-- sure enough, the ones from the '88 were substantially shorter than the '94. These were both XJ's and I even posted a thread asking when they changed:

every place I checked for replacements listed parts with footnotes containing specific lengths, so I don't guess even the aftermarket manufacturers have any clue when things changed??

No idea yet! I think its average though.

The XJ links were actually 1" longer than the MJ links, just to clarify.

Well, its in the paint shop! It will not be a show job like the black XJ but it will look good!

That looks sharp! Im glad you can find a paint shop to have a truck in and out in 3 days. The shortest I've ever had a carn in the shop for paint was 4 months.

Didn't want to spend the money to bring it up to black paint standards, we left a little "character" in it.

I took it to them striped down, bed loose, just as you see it on Monday at 8am. He called me on Tuesday at 1pm and it was base coated. He had 5 guys working on it.

my daughter is 14 and I've already started putting a safe ride together for her. I realized a couple years ago that what I consider "safe" might not be the best choice for a teenage first-time driver. It's amazing what "quirks" you will overlook when you know you're the only one driving something, but for a new driver you want the best possible vehicle for learning.

My DD for the next couple years and the daughters toy after she shows us that she's mature enough to have it:

Well its sad to say but Big Red is almost ready to go to XJ heaven. I have about 4 more hours of work to do before I cut it up and haul it to the scrapyard. Here is her heart and soul coming out. I will re-use this low mileage engine/tranny at a later date either in another XJ for me or in my trail rig, Old Blue. Old Blue has about 200k on the ticker
