The MJ, "Overhaulin" style!

Everything was going real good on this MJ until today. The %^&*in' thing wont start!

I have good spark, fuel pressure and injector pulse:confused:

Looks like I might have fubard the timing chain install but i can't imagine how. Its not like this is the first one I've ever done.
 
The engine is done! I had a brain fart and indexed the distributor 180* out but all is good now and it runs great.

We start on the interior tomorrow.

Well this build is trying me right now! I don't have any oil pressure on the engine(I think/hope its a gauge problem) and while fixing a loose wire and a non working horn button in the steering column I have managed to screw up the new ignition switch and now the jeep will not start!

One step forward, three steps back! that seems to be the theme of this build.

To top it all off, the new headliner/board that I bought from SMS doesn't fit properly and they are closed until July 17th
 
I'd love to come over and help. But I only know how to use a Sawzall and Welder. I don't think you'll want me coming over.

BTW when I saw your wife at the pool she said hurry up and finish this.

LOL! Right now I would like to take a sawzall to this POS! And yes, my wife is about to kill me over this Jeep!

I know the feeling about bad summers. This whole year has been bad.
 
As it turns out I have 45 psi of oil pressure at idle using a mechanical gauge. The problem is either the gauge or the sender

I got the horn working as well, that was the last thing to do before the VA state inspection

The guy at SMS Headliners is making me another one to replace the one that he made too large. GREAT customer service!

I cut the one that I have to make it fit for now.

Just an update, I got it inspected yesterday and it passed!:D We drove it around getting paint/bedliner estimates yesterday and after putting 40 miles on it, I'm impressed!.

3 things I have to do over;

1) fix the leaking bung on the gas tank(the local Oriellys gave me a new gasket since the old one is either bad or not seated properly)

2) re-center the steering wheel

3) either put the old instrument cluster back in or replace the gas gauge/OP gauge in the one that I have. Neither are working.

Our next step is a bedliner and tool box(both black). Then the lift next weekend and finally the silver/grey paint the following week. It should be done before August 1.
 
After 5 "trouble free" days of driving it, we have moved on to the next phase in the project, the body/paint work and lift.

It goes into the shop for a spray in bedliner on Wednesday, the lift will go on Thursday-Sunday and then on to the body shop next week.

My son started sanding the bedrails today to prep for the bedliner.

I cut the old spring perches and shock mounts off of the 29 spline 8.25 in preparation for the axle swap/3" lift. We will be doing HellCreek 2.5" AAL's and TeraFlex 1.5 shackles in the rear with Barnes 4wd spring perches(SUA to eliminate axle wrap).

The front lift will be "Hybrid". The springs are OME MD with 2"spacers, RE SF LCA's, and RE SF tracbar. I'm keeping the disco D-30 to help fuel mileage(a little) but I have a freshly rebuilt non-disco D-30 ready to drop in if the old axle gives us any issues.

I'll post more pics after the lift and bedliner is done.

I also ordered a FEY rear step bumper for it today and I'm looking for a Ridgico front bumper(non winch/non-receiver) for it so if any of you see one used for sale, PM me.

I'll bet yours doesn't have 10 1" "chiseled out" holes in the rails though! Fortunately the bedliner place is owned by a friend of mine and he is going to patch the holes for free. We are also getting a powder-coated black tool box for cheap from him as well!

The Jeep will be painted Jeep "Bright Silver Metallic" with all trim/bumpers/flares being Matt Black

oh wow, thats gonna look friggin awesome ....good choice on the RigidCo bumper ...why non-winch or non-receiver? this would still utilize their mounting system, yea?

& i say if this is gonna be your son's rig, have him join up on the board & take over this thread

Nope, though mine do have some holes from what I assume were aftermarket tie-down points that were installed. They aren't 1", though.

Thanks! as for the Ridgico, I like the sleeker look of the bumper with out the receiver in it.

My son is not much on the forums, I doubt I could get him on here.
