My 8 year old wanted an in-home school project to take care of this school year, so we ordered him a live VFT. Right now, it is about 1" in diameter across the root ball, so it is VERY small. As it grows, I will update the pictures and sizes.

i had one of those. Make sure you do some research on how to care for it. You need to put it in some little dome to keep in the humidity. Pretty cool to see them eat flies and spiders though. good luck with it!

True; I've never had much luck with them. Pitcher plants were more my speed.

I like pitcher plants too, shame they can't hold alot of beer though...

Are you going to use live food, or hamburger? Has he seen the new "Jouney to the Center of the Earth?"

I got one of those for my wife a few months ago, she likes weird plants. You can get them from Lowes and Home Depot sometimes. Ours has lived for 2 months now. Keep it in a sunny window sill with plenty of water, we actually have another cup under the one the plant is in that is kept full so that the plant stays almost marshy. And when you find bugs on the window sill go put them in the plant. It is really cool, it closes pretty quickly. The leaves will die after they digest a bug, nip them off and a new one will grow.
