So 3 days ago I moved up to the north side of town with a friend of mine and her sister. Two of us work in the same area and usually carpool. Today I was running a little late and she left by herself about 20 minutes before me. I go to leave the house and when I walk out into the garage what do i find?
Garage is standing wide open and some sh**head gang banger is walking off with my rubbermade tote full of air tools!!!! He sees me, drops the tools and takes off running, I chase after him. He made it 3 houses to the end of the block and i caught up to him as we crossed the street into the park, grabbed the back of his collar and gave a good yank then shove. Guy goes down with me on top of him like a surfboard. Hits his head on the pavement and is out cold. I was on my way to work(plain clothes security), so i cuffed the guy up and got him to a seated position. I call PD and get them on the way. Meanwhile, Mr Man wakes up and is pissed! Wont tell me anything except his name is Smiley and that he wasnt stealing from me.(although there is about 500 bucks worth of tools spilled on the street...)
PD shows up, is happy with me collering him, loads him into an ambulance, has me write a statement, and tells me he is being charged with second degree burglary and to expect a subpeona...
After all is said and done, I had to take another shower and throw away a good work shirt with this dudes blood on it. I ended up nearly 2 hours late to the office.
So yeah, crappy start to the day. At least I have my tools still! I also had a nice chat with the roomy about shutting the garage and locking doors at all times... We will talk more after work...
Its odd because this is actually a pretty nice neighborhood. Im thinking he came off the RTD line near our house and decided to do a little "window shopping". Hopefully the girls arent too freaked out by this, but they need to understand that they should take the proper steps for all of our safety...
