I just want to thank JohnJohn for building my jeep for me. It took him 6 years full of blood, sweat and tears, but finally he finished it just in time for me to pick it up today and drive it back to the SLC.

I think 5 days of building burnt me on wrenching...I pull that t-case apart like three times until i finally got it sealed properly.

1970 VW Karmann Ghia Cabriolet

Very clean. Has some bondo under the Maaco job. A few minor rust spots, Still very, very clean. Ebay is getting 12,500 to 14,500 for unit in this condition.

It has been my wifes dream car since she was 16. It's the same year she is...a '70. She likes that part best.

So far...I have tinted the windows (looks incredible, I can't believe you didn't do it earlier?), removed the stickers (Sorry John ), shaved off part of that rear diff bracket and installed it, ordered some rear rocker panel guards from Tomken. Will have to modify those since the rear bumper has been bent to match the contour of the jeep. Replaced rear O2 Sensor, check engine light still on . Will snap some photos and send 'em over.

Still need to do - detachable mudflaps, e-brake maybe (John, do I need to order the different calipers from TSM?), coil spring retainer clip...does the list ever end?

The bumper was not bent by me, that's the way Tomken makes them. Do you still need the inserts then, for the rear moldings?

You can order the other calipers form TSM, but the e-brake sucks. It wouldn't on the Jeep on my driveway...you saw that slope, not too bad. The non-ebrake calipers seemed to stop the rig better too. So I liked them better. It's up to you. You may aske TSM if you can just swap them for the e-brake models. They use refurb calipers, so maybe they can use the ones you have. You'll need to get some YJ e-brake lines. Remember I used the area under the e-brake to run up those air lines. You could easily re-mount that though.

Anyone with a Scanner can reset the code. It will come back though. It's been doing that ever since I replaced the Odo to the tach one. Not sure where it's coming from. The dealer told me the code was nothing to worry about.

No worries pulling stickers. It helped me sell some BOR stuff when I drove it around.

If you are sticking with TSM brakes, just get used to not having an ebrake. Those integral ones are crap.

Oh yeah, I decided a little more protection would be better suited on the rocker panels than cheap plastic. Hope you didn't order the inserts already? I remember what you said about the check engine light, just thought I would try some things out anyway. It looks as if you had replaced the front sensor, so the rear one was definitely due. As for the ebrake, I know a guy that will pass it without one (I think). Maybe I will just go without.

x3 on the TSM ebrake -- I used to run the TSM kit on a Scout D44 in my old XJ, uses GM Eldorado calipers, but the smaller post 1979 ones. I never could get them to stay adjusted...
