Tell me about York

I know there's a person or two at who's from York - tell me about your town. I'm considering moving there, and want to know. Nice? Nasty? On the way up? Must-see spots? Neighborhoods to avoid? Highlights, quirks? Is this a place a person could live happily for a few years?

New York or York Maine? York Maine is yippies I think, but they have a zoo with crazy animals.

what do you want to know? york is ok, just a typical town i guess. bout 45 min from baltimore. there is/was (cant seem to located them anymore on the web) a large jeep club that hosts a HUGE show yearly at the york fair grounds. lots of wheelers in the area because of rausch and paragon being close. people are nice i guess and there are sh/tty parts of town, just like everywhere i guess. there are several shops in the area that do 4x work, some good some bad. uh, not sure really what you want to know? my SO went to school there from grade 6 to graduation and we go up there about three times a year. anything about clubs, etc pm me and ill let ya know.

I went to the York Pa jeep show over the summer and thought the town was pretty nice... seemed like there was alot of 4x4 shops and influence around there, nice place....... Hope to see yall at the show if you end up moving, its a great time.

York is am alright town. I only see alot of the college part of town, down around jackson street.Some of the areas in town are bad. Like stooting and stuff. most of it is near the college.

by the fairground is nice. seen a few nice nieghborhoods on the up to the jeepshow every year. cant remember the streets thought.

atleast your only 1.5 hours away from rausch creek.

Any good/low-price salvage yards in the area? Anyone recommend a good mechanic who does good work at reasonable prices? Where are there trails in the area? Any good local clubs?

Yeah, I'm getting out of DC. Signed for an apartment today, 15 minutes from work, at a relaxed pace. And unlike the DC area, I'll be able to afford a house! Two weeks until moving!

www.bmja.org is a good Pa club.They just had their Turkey run at Paragon today,good times,wheelin' in the morning then a nice turkey lunch and then more wheelin'.They have monthly runs at Paragon or Rausch.

The Keystone Krawlers is a Great club geared for the whole family. They accept all makes and models as well.

there is a great yard up towards dover. on the left side of the road going into dover, across from a strip mall that has some of the best bbq on the east cost (smokey joes) cant remember the name of that one but if you run into a jeeper up there they will know. and of course there is http://www.wegotused.com/harrys.html you can find anything there and they have the best deals on the planet. a buddy got an 8.8 w/ disk brakes for like 50$ and they have "dollar days" and so on.
