Team NAXJA/Petty Cash Racing stock class KOH XJ build

Its a dual rate coil setup. ;) Actually, its not really dual rate, as the upper coil is in bind until we're almost unloaded, and just helps the axle drop out.

Our coils were unloading almost 3" at full droop, so we weren't using the full shock travel on go fast (gravity wont suck the axle down that fast).

Now we can use more travel.

What's the spring rate on the tender coil? Do you think it will help at all in the go-fast? Seems like such a light rate that it wouldn't add much?

Curious to see if it helps for sure.

Thats what contacts the bumpstop.

Its not round, and is clearanced where it should contact. It may still rub a coil from time to time, but isn't right now when we flex it out.

100 pound, 6 inches long.

We weigh 700 pounds on the corners, so its just barely compressed at ride height. I can assure you it does quite a bit.

Interesting... So when you get some air in the go fast, this little extra "unload" spring pushes the axle/shock down, increasing your amount of uptravel when it lands, effectively (and hopefully) absorbing the landing better. It would also help keep a tire on the ground in extreme flex cases while rock crawling too. Seems like a cool design, keep us posted on how it works.

Wouldn't switching to single progressive rate springs in the front have the same effect? Probably big $$$ and would be fully custom wrapped springs though...

Rock Krawler has tripple rate springs that prolly would have worked out also. They are for their new JK line up so made for the little extra lbs over a tj/xj also.

Oh and at about 150 a pair not very bad cost wise either. They have a 1.5, 2.5 and 3.5 lift which is about 2 up to 5" on a XJ and then even more in your case due to the tube OD and brackets.

Rock Krawler doesn't publish spring rates or uncompressed lengths on their coils, so they were never really on the table.

Well Jeremy likes to give info to those that know how to use it. But its well known that people with to much info talk them self's into the wrong parts because they dont have a clue what they are looking at.

It appears you are not in a position to go back now, but if you need Any RK info on anything they offer, let me know. I can get it for you.

We are still playing with coils. If they have a list of their coils that include spring rate and uncompressed length, I'd be very interested in reading through it.

Different thread or PM please. Dont muddle this one up :-)

Thanks to Cottontail for pointing this one out to us ;)

We're using the header and muffler in the ad, they gave us an intake kit as well, but it won't fit under the XJ hood ;)

you had any problems with that banks header with regards to fitment?

Its funny, we were discussing that during our most recent (and third) engine swap.

Fits like a glove. Just clears our Brown Dog motor mounts, doesn't come close to anything else. Through two seasons and 5 rolls it hasn't cracked, shifted, leaked, done anything except sound good.

Our muffler is holding up surprisingly well too, considering how many times we've used it to protect the floor from rocks ;)

That the torque tubes one or the revolver one?
