Synthetic vs Conventional oil

I don't understand your logic of not using Amsoil because of a friction modifier.

The ECTED specifically stated that it should use conventional oil. It also requires friction modifier. It has plate clutches that chatters in tight turns if no modifier is used.
 
i wouldnt run full synthetic with a flat tappet motor unless adding a zddp additive as the newer synthetics have even less than dinos (dinos have also been reduced but still have more than synthetic) synthetics are great for rollers though

There also several other synthetics that have a good amount of ZDDP such as Brad Penn, Royal Purple, and Joe Gibbs. To name a few.
 
brad penn is a semi synthetic and does have high levels of zddp (we run the green stuff in our race cars and especially when breaking in high lift cams):spin1:
 
I've been using Brad Penn since day one on my stroker(@20K now), so I'll see if it stands the test of time.
 
Valvoline SynPower has ZDDP in it as well.
And I run AMO in my XJ, and it loves it.
For those that complain/rant about "not enough zddp" get an oil analysis, and see how your engine is doing. And should do it every so often, regardless.

so i'm assuming there's no way for someone to do an oil analysis without sending it to a place like oillab.com?

i too am considering going synthetic, not with my jeep though, with my DD tacoma. i don't see a reason to do it in my jeep because i gamble with water contamination. its a trail rig.
 
if you know a chem/chem eng grad student at a local college with decent equipment you could probably get a zinc assay on a mass spectrometer for a case of beer or less.

not complaining or ranting that there isnt enough. just the more the better for flat tappet.
