Swamp Lake run stuff

matt, double check to see if that texaco is still open...when i was there last month it looked closed. the texaco's around here are switching to shell's and not all stations kept opened. I reccomend getting gas in prather, to be safe. maybe you guys meet at the dinkey creek road turn -off. [or the napa parking lot] there might be one other bako sat guy. i'll know tomorrow.

Matt.....just to confirm....there will be additional friends from bakersfield meeting up with you on sat....ray cribben and a friend....there 'yoda' boys. very well equiped rigs...and good guys. ray will either meet you at the mckinnley road turn-off or the swamp lake trailhead. they'll be spending fri nite at the dinkey base camp. p.s...have a little xj fun with these yodas..... :laugh2: [i gave him your cell#]

There will also be another Bakersfield family meeting you guys Sat morning. They will likely camp at Dinkey Fri night, and will meet you at the parking lot (where tow rigs are parked) at the turn before crossing the bridge at Dinkey Creek. They are Dan and Penny and they drive a 'Cruiser.

OK sounds good. I'll try to meet up with everyone. So far it sounds like it's me. Byran C. Mr. Stein, possibly Mike & Chuck going in with XJ's Sat. morning. We'll meet up with a bunch of sticking yota's that will slow us down with break downs & we'll see you guys in camp around midnight Sat. night... ;) It sounds like we'll meet everyone else at base camp at Dinkey Creek?

Matt

Let's run Ch 5......4 seems to get lots of activity up there.

BTW, it looks like the fire was 100% contained........no problems.

Whew! Just poured 17 yards of concrete.
Heading to get groceries, next stop Dinkey Creek.
See you guys there.

Jes

What kind of eats are people bringing? I've got some MGD I'm bringing, about 15 or so cans, I had a few last night. :laugh3: Are we doing the BBQ thing? I just didn't know what to bring, on the Con I had lots of granola bars that were o.k. but I got really sick of them.

Hey I am joining you all on sunday.. I can bring parts/food/water with me. I could come up saturday for an emergency with parts. A few of you know how to get ahold of me. If i am at the bald trail head at about noon, think i will be there before you?

PM me your number, If I have cell service, I'll call for a parts run. :D

I cannot make it to the Swamp run. It's too far from me and I have a bad sqeak coming from my rear driveshaft I think. My motor/trans have 205K so I think I would be pushing it too much to make the trek down there. Thanks for the invite Matt and opening up your place to us guys. I'm planning on staying local and doing the Hell Hole Jeep Trail by the Rubicon with the Boonie Bouncers club by me in Citrus Heights. Does anyone know how it is? The club I'm going with says a 6-7 on a 10 scale, with the Rubicon being a 10. That's a little mild for me, but what the heck. See you guys on Fordyce in August when we have the big run or sooner I hope.

We'll be headin out from Sac in around 10. Gettin kind of a late start :D We'll probably try to catch up on the trail. Anyone know how long it takes to get from the trailhead to the camp spot?

If anybody else wants to join up our cell is 916-416-2208.

SO uh, where's the trailhad? :) Seems there are a copl different ways to get there.

I will be leaving in about an hour and heading straight to the campground. I got off of work early enough just to head straight down. Thank to FarmerMatt for the invite to stay the night, sorry I won't get a chance to stay the night at the farm. I will se you all on the trail.

Basalt, Jes get some very detailed directions on the original Swamp Run post.

Here's my cell if you guys get a little lost. 559-696-7656

There is a short cut, you take 145 off of 99, north of Fresno in Madera. Take that to Friant Dam, go passed Millerton Lake and then to Auberry Road/168. It will save you a good half-an-hour or more.
