Swamp Lake Route Run

I am going to run Swamp Lake Route on June 30 thru July 2. This is for those that can't make the NAXJA June Rubicon run and for those who can't make the NAXJA July Swamp Lake run. Please post up if you interested and once the date gets closer I post details.

Thanks,

I wonder if it will be open by then? It has been pretty cool lately, there is a lot of snow to melt.

Good point, last year it did not open till late, end of july or early Aug.

You should check, or send Scrappy up to find out! :)

hahah I would love to go up and scout around. I ususally wind up doing it anyhow. But this year is out. Neither of my jeeps are wheelable:gonnablow

But Joe, I can almost guarentee that Swamp wont be open. According to the Lock and Low guys who are really involved this year with getting those trails ready, Red lake will be the only trail open that weekend. Then Coyote the next weekend. Then probably late july for swamp. Then august for Dusy. Its going to be a short year (it looks like at least).

Sand flats to red/coyote/mirror still had a few feet of snow on it.

Soooo if it were me, I wouldn't plan one into Swamp yet.

Oh well I guess I will have to think about another trail then. Scrappy do you know if West and Strawberry Lake will be open by then?

Different Place. Strawberry Lake is between Shaver lake and Huntington lake.

I honestly do not know. I would venture to say no because every year regardless of snow, Red lake is first to open. Then coyote/mirror. Then the other get opened fast leading to the opening to swamp. I dont see any other trails besides Bald and Blue Canyon being open for the next few weeks.

I heard a rummor that half of Swamp is open, which half I do not know.

I hope not. People driving with some fair amount of snow will TEAR that place up. Thats whats happened with Bald. Its in total shambles as of a few weeks ago.
