Swamp Lake 2014

You folks have fun....I will still be wrenching

Thanks in large part to Cracker's help and encouragement, my rig is ready to go. My son and I will be arriving in the area Tuesday afternoon, and likely will be camping and fishing at Courtright Reservoir Tuesday to Thursday. If you spot a lifted desert tan '99 XJ, that'll be us.

Goatman had some family go into the hospital. He's planning on going, but i would like to see if anyone going would mind stepping up and leading Friday if Goatman is not able to.

I expect to be headed north tomorrow if everything goes right today. :)

souske and I will be leaving SD around lunch tomorrow expect to arrive thursday evening at dinky, map shows little more than 400 miles and 6 hours. Of course we'll be traveling using Roadkill time. :)

I cant read it on the map, what is the intersection where we are meeting friday morning? what time are you planning on going from the campground to the trailhead?

I'll head up with jrowell's group tomorrow. I'm in Shaver Lake right now having a burger and beer. I'll head back up to Dinkey Creek when I'm done and see if I can find the group.

Here is where we will be leaving our tow rigs:

Take Hwy 168 from Fresno east about an hour to Shaver Lake. As you are coming into the town of Shaver Lake make a right turn onto Dinkey Creek Rd (there is an old convenience store on the corner), where there is a sign saying Wishon and Courtright Reservoirs. Go about 12.5 miles on Dinkey Creek Rd and look for another sign saying Wishon and Courtright Reservoirs, and make a right turn at the sign onto McKinley Grove Rd. You'll immediately cross the bridge over Dinkey Creek then go about a 1/8 mile (You should be able to see us in the trees off to the left at this point) and you'll see two roads that go to the left, one cuts back sharply and goes to Camp Fresno, and the other one is 10S36, make a left turn onto 10S36 and immediately turn into the trees on the right, which will be our camp. You should see My Red Dodge with trailer.

The best place to gas up, if you're not towing, is in Prather at the bottom of the big grade going up to Shaver, or at the station in Shaver Lake. There is gas at the Dinkey Creek store but it's expensive. There is a good outhouse at the camp at Grouse Lake.

Meet by 8:30 Looking to head to the trail at 9am Friday morning. Bring your Fishing pole and Bug spray!
